Job Description

EvolutionHR is searching for an experienced Senior Buyer in the Roanoke area to join a clients team.

As a member of the Purchasing team, the roles and responsibilities of the Senior Buyer will be to work closely with suppliers to ensure accurate processing of orders and timely delivery of merchandise.  This position requires proactively scoping, initiating and leading cost efficiency projects in conjunction with functional business stakeholders including Manufacturing, Facilities, Engineering, Distribution, and other areas of spend related to Operations and Product Development.  As a Senior team member, the expectation of working with others and proactively providing input for team improvements is expected.

Requirements:

A Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent five to eight years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment required.  Certified Professional in Supply Management® (CPSM) or Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) certification is preferred.

Proven project management, procurement, and inventory skills.

Strong experience in project, change and category management.

Experience with evaluating supplier market trends.

Ability to work successfully in a national and international team environment, ensuring proactive alignment with cross-divisional and global teams in a complex matrix.

Ability to create well-structured, professional presentations, reports and business correspondences.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite tools (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word).

Proven negotiation and supplier management skills as well as experience in the drafting and management of contracts and non-disclosure agreements.

Must be able to demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills in conjunction with the ability to manage multiple projects.

Experience with measuring supplier performance via performance metrics (e.g., scorecard, performance metrics, and key performance indicators).

Necessary Skills:

Strong experience with Standard Cost Model and Purchase Price Variance analysis.

Ability to make sound purchasing decisions on behalf of company upholding the highest standards of ethics and integrity.

Ability to perform  cost analysis and negotiate with suppliers to get the best terms on the order possible including pricing, payment terms, delivery commitments, stocking, etc.

Must be able to evaluate commodity market conditions (e.g.; changing prices, supply considerations, and demand variables) for assigned material, products and/or services.

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations.

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in reports, business correspondence, and verbally.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of management, associates, customers, and public.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Ability to track and report savings monthly according to established company guidelines.

Must be able to handle multiple assignments and shifting time constraints.

Ability to utilize procurement tools to solve problems in support of operations. 

Extremely detail oriented and ability to follow procedures and directions precisely.

Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will be responsible for soliciting proposals/quotes, contract negotiation, evaluating supplier performance and resolving problems relating to supplier or equipment non-performance. The selected candidate will be accountable for achieving cost savings goals and efficiencies, and performing contract negotiations. This includes leveraging spend across the client Corporation for assigned categories.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Managing daily expedites for assigned raw material, products, and services, escalating shortage or expedite requests as needed.

Organizing regular update communications and meetings with stakeholders to ensure transparency and up to date information on key initiatives is shared.

Managing supplier relationships and assigned supplier agreements, terms and vendor managed inventory programs; managing assigned suppliers to build trust and resolve issues regarding performance, timelines, product quality, delivery and commitments.

Participating in the supplier performance review process.

Proactively looking for opportunities and scope, initiate and lead projects and initiatives to increase cost efficiency in conjunction with the functional area stakeholders for assigned categories.

Further developing, negotiating and executing terms and conditions, contracts and agreements for the purchase of goods and services.

Working collaboratively to engage with internal business partners to coordinate purchasing efforts, understanding the leveraging situations and evaluating the total solution for pricing.

Utilizing best price and cost analysis techniques to assure the corporation is receiving the best overall value.

Creating bid packages and performing bid analysis, reviewing findings and recommendations with Procurement Team.

Identifying and vetting suppliers in accordance with the procurement strategy.

Preparing requisitions, purchase orders, change notices and bid requests. Placing purchase orders, managing and resolving supplier problems related to goods.

Recommending areas for cost improvement and implementing. Working with multiple suppliers to determine the best terms for the company, and evaluating the pros and cons of each, purchase based on price, quality, speed of delivery and other factors.

Maintaining procurement records such as supplier terms, items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality and performance.

Managing the procurement of materials and services necessary to support and lead cost efficient operations within the organization.

Building relationships with suppliers.

Monitoring and managing supplier performance in delivery, cost, quality, service and innovation.

Conduct periodic reporting including, but not limited to: inventory review, price variance, PO purge process, purchase trending, and supplier performance data.

Reporting Relationships:Reports to the VP of Operations

Must pass a same day drug screen, background. Must have a steady work history and great attitude
