An inpatient adult psychiatric facility in New York City is actively seeking a new, licensed Registered Nurse (RN) to join their Mental Health team in Brooklyn. In this role, the Mental Health Nurse (RN) will be responsible for providing general nursing care in a behavioral health setting.

Responsibilities:

The Mental Health Nurse (RN) will be responsible for:
  • Assessing the patients’ physical needs
  • Checking and transcribing physicians’ orders in a timely manner
  • Medication administration;
  • Admission, Discharge, and Transfer of patients based on Physician orders
  • Assisting with procedures and physical exams
  • Conducting checks of treatment rooms for required equipment and ensuring its functionality
  • Recording appropriate progress notes and other data into the patients’ medical record
  • Collecting vital sign, drawing blood, etc.
  • Performing other duties, as needed

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Current CPR certification
  • Solid assessment, clinical, and documentation skills
  • Patient oriented
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Highly organized
Desired Skills:
  • 1+ year of experience working in a Behavioral Health setting.
  • Associate's and/or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or in one of the following Human Services fields: Counseling; Community Mental Health, Psychology, Recreation Therapy, Rehab, and Social Work
