Position Purpose

National Oilwell Varco - Fluid Motion Solutions group is actively recruiting a Sales Engineer to support the southern California and Nevada areas. This position requires a self-motivated, highly organized, engineering consultant that is responsible for ensuring Moyno Pumps and Chemineer Mixing Equipment are specified in both municipal and industrial market bidding processes along with providing technical support to the field sales agents.

For more than 75 years, Moyno progressing cavity pumps have been successfully applied and are the most widely used progressing cavity pumps in the industrial and municipal wastewater treatment industry. Along with our sister company Chemineer, we offer the two leading, legacy products in their respective fields.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Educate the engineering community, both independent and in-house groups, about the competitive advantages of utilizing Moyno and Chemineer product lines
  • Enhance the bid/spec process by educating upper tier industrial and municipal principals of the Moyno and Chemineer cost of ownership benefits
  • Ensure Moyno and Chemineer are spec’d for all municipal bids in southern California and Nevada
  • Prepare all quotations for municipal bids and work in consortium with Area Manager on strategic pricing
  • Support field sales with technical expertise both on customer visits and phone support
  • Utilize CRM to document customer activity and opportunities
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and industry events/training/conferences

Scope of Responsibilities

This position reports to the Western Area Sales Manager and is responsible for growing influence within engineering community to ensure Moyno/Chemineer products are spec’d for municipal and industrial projects. Acting as a technical consultant to the engineering community and being aware well in advance of all upcoming municipal bids by utilizing various bidding tools NOV has at its disposal.

The Sales Engineer will be responsible for communicating to NOV engineering and project management teams latest trends and applications in the market and ensure NOV products and services are the market leader.

The nature and scope of the position requires the individual to be a technical self-starter, keep abreast of the current trends within the geographic market area, and interface with customer accounts to affect desired company objectives and drive all product line growth.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of industrial applications or sales engineering experience preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred
  • Ability to communicate technical information and concepts in various formats is required
  • Previous customer-facing experience
  • Candidate must be able to work independently in a home-based office.
  • Candidate must have strong oral and written communication skills to include the ability to provide group presentations in a seminar environment.
  • Proficient with MS Office Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Valid US driver’s license and safe driving history
  • Overnight Travel required at times
  • The successful candidate for this position will have a customer centric focus with an emphasis on proactive consulting efforts.
  • Additional requirements are strong problem-solving skills, being a self-starter requiring minimal amount of supervision, experience utilizing CRM, and exceptional organization skills.
