Canyon Ridge Hospital a 106-bed behavioral health facility located on the western edge of San Bernardino County. Canyon Ridge Hospital is a full-service psychiatric hospital that operates within a 15-mile radius of Riverside, Los Angeles and Orange Counties. Canyon Ridge Hospital has been a public resource for behavioral health and substance abuse treatment in the greater Inland Empire since 1989. Our acute care facility offers a safe and comfortable environment for both adults and adolescents. The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing direct patient care to Children, Adolescents, Adults and Geriatrics diagnosed with psychiatric and chemical dependency disorders; to ensure the safety and well-being of these patients; to support the maintenance of therapeutic milieu. Responsible for maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment, documentation, facilitating or assisting with groups when necessary, following program specifications, and risk management. Responsible for providing direct care and performing duties in accordance with hospital policies and procedures in collaboration with the nursing services team.
Medical Assistant Diploma required, High school level reading and writing skills; acceptable oral and written communication skills; legible handwriting; ability to maintain information as highly confidential; telephone etiquette and customer service skills by phone and face-to-face; familiarity with medical and psychological terminology preferred; skills in dealing courteously with the public and other staff within the organization; basic knowledge of human behavior or principles of psychology useful; skills in prioritizing and in managing time; problem-solving skills; use of appropriate social skills, including demonstration and respect for staff and patients; empathy toward patients; basic knowledge of 12-step treatment program; insight regarding denial and resistance to treatment; knowledge of the recovery process, including relapse and relapse prevention.
