What You Will Do

Use your application and security skills to do something truly remarkable in the Secure Networks and Assurance Group in the Weapons Research Services Division (WRS-SNA). WRS-SNA is seeking a motivated individual to provide cybersecurity compliance and support for the Nuclear Weapons Cyber Assurance Laboratory (NWCAL).

Specifically, this position will serve as the Information System Security Officer (ISSO) for NWCAL's systems and networks. Additional duties include interfacing with strategic partners such as the Nuclear Enterprise Assurance Program (NEA, NA-121.4), interfacing with other ISSOs and LANL's ISSM, CISO, and CIO (as needed), performing operations supporting the Product Realization Integrated Digital Environment Program (PRIDE, NA-122.1) in software assurance, and performing operations supporting NWCAL's capabilities related to triage and digital exploration.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:


Intermediate knowledge of the cybersecurity environment, including network and host system concepts, compliance, and certification. Advanced technical knowledge of classic and contemporary cyber threats and vulnerabilities, and the ability to apply that knowledge to system engineering and operations.

Technical Knowledge

Demonstrated knowledge and experience with chain of custody and forensics as it applies to incident response for operational technology assurance (OTA) and software assurance (SwA).


Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment to analyze problems, propose solutions to management, and deploy and document implemented solutions. You must be willing to work in radiation and beryllium areas.


Outstanding written and oral technical communication skills as evidenced by the ability to provide guidance to peers and junior staff, successfully communicate to a variety of stakeholders, and document technical and procedural information.

Policies / Procedures

Experience working with cybersecurity policies and procedures at all levels both orally and in writing, addressing policy requirements.


Position requires a bachelor's degree (master's preferred) in a technical field and a minimum of 4 years' related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At this level post graduate work may be expected.


Ability to obtain a DOE "Q" Clearance, which typically requires US Citizenship.

Desired Qualifications:

Record of accomplishments

A record of accomplishments in supporting cybersecurity projects in a manufacturing environment.

Classified and unclassified setting

Knowledge of and experience working with classified and unclassified computer/cybersecurity requirements of the Department of Energy (DOE), the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), and Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), or other U.S. government facility. Experience monitoring computer systems to ensure compliance with computer security requirements.

Tools and technologies

Experience with network and software scanning tools. Experience with digital triage, cyber forensics, and formality of operations (such as chain of custody).


Active DOE "Q" Clearance

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance which requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon position, additional authorization to access nuclear weapons information may be required that may or may not be available to dual citizens depending upon the circumstances.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the required period of continuous service, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader.
