The Enterprise Functions Technology (EFT) group provides technology solutions and support for Risk, Audit, Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, Corporate Properties, and Stakeholder Relations business lines. In addition, EFT provides unique technology solutions and innovation for Wells Fargo Technology, Enterprise Shared Services, and Enterprise Data Management. This combined portfolio of applications and tools are continually engineered to meet the challenges of stability, security, scalability, and speed.

We are seeking a Lead Application Engineer (Lead Software Engineer) within the Calculation Services team. This team is entrusted to create a next generation platform to alleviate limitations of legacy infrastructure using cutting edge data engineering/science tools and techniques. Goal is to enable and empower our risk modelers with a platform for centralized model life cycle across design, development, validation, and deployment.

Responsibilities include:
  • Hands on Application Engineer with in-depth knowledge of Distributed systems, and application development.
  • Work with Agile teams adopting and enforcing best practices related to SDLC.
  • Work in enterprise distributed systems on root cause analysis, troubleshooting, debugging, testing.
  • Develop API based architecture and build scalable and responsive enterprise API platforms.
  • Develop using Java/Python stack.
  • Collaborate with the business and other enterprise technology architects & engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with data Scientists and build solutions to meet there needs for ML Model Development.
  • Develop, deploy and/or manage data pipelines in Enterprise CI/CD.
Required Qualifications, US:
  • 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 5+ years of experience building applications with API integration using REST, Java or Python.
  • 5+ years of experience gathering, analyzing and interpreting large datasets
  • 5+ years of financial reporting experience
  • 5+ years of experience gathering, analyzing and interpreting large datasets.
Desired Qualifications:
  • An industry-standard technology certification
  • 5+ years of experience with databases such as Oracle, DB2, SQL server, or Teradata.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • SAS programming experience in model implementation, reporting, and complex data manipulations
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
  • Strong collaboration and partnering skills
  • Strong technical and quantitative skills
  • 5+ years of financial industry experience
  • Experience working in Agile / Scrum delivery team
  • 2+ years of experience delivering ETL, data warehouse and data analytics capabilities on big-data architecture such as Hadoop
  • 2+ years of experience with Big Data or Hadoop tools such as Spark, Hive, Kafka and Map
