The Automotive Service Advisor is responsible to interpret customers concerns for the technician so that the technician can diagnose and repair problems correctly. This position is classified as non- exempt from applicable wage and hour laws. Following is a list of certain minimum required duties, responsibilities and qualifications associated with the position, subject to applicable law. This list is not all inclusive and may be amended or supplemented as business needs dictate.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for welcoming customers with a warm and sincere greeting
  • Ensures excellent service standards and maintains high customer satisfaction
  • Ascertains automotive problems and services by listening to customer's description of symptoms; clarifying description of problems; conducting inspections; taking test drives; checking vehicle maintenance records; examining service schedules
  • Verifies warranty and service contract coverage by examining records and papers; explaining provisions and exclusions
  • Develops estimates by costing materials, supplies, and labor; calculating customer's payment, including deductibles
  • Prepares repair orders (RO) by describing symptoms, problems, and causes discovered, as well as repairs and services required; obtaining approval signatures; entering RO into service database system
  • Maintains customer rapport by explaining estimates and expected return of vehicle; obtaining customer's approval of estimates; obtaining and providing contact telephone numbers; answering questions and concerns; arranging towing and temporary transportation
  • Maintains automotive records by recording problems and corrective actions planned
  • Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
  • Maintains minimum sales targets as outlined by management
  • Follows company safety procedures and policies

  • Individuals employed in this position must be able to stand, sit and mobilize through various dealership work areas (sometimes for extended periods) in connection with their customer and customer service duties

  • Individuals employed in this position must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions and management
  • Individuals employed in this position must have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Individuals employed in this position must be able to establish rapport and build relationships with customers
  • Individuals employed in this position must demonstrate organizational and time management skills
  • Individuals employed in this position must possess a valid driver's license in good standing and possess acceptable safe driving record
  • Individuals employed in this position must demonstrate sufficient computer literacy
  • Individual employed in this position must possess a positive attitude and commitment to adhere to and administer company policies, procedures and standards
