About the Opportunity

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.

This is a system administrator role on the IT End User Systems and Access Management team which is responsible for FirstEnergys identity management strategy and enforcement. The team manages our current Identity Management platform for user security provisioning and governance (Microsoft Identity Manager), Azure Active Directory, Azure B2C, Microsoft Admin Center (M365) and an on-premise Active Directory. We also own a variety of messaging applications which include Exchange, Cisco Email Gateway, Email Fraud Defense, Email to Page - Kofax, Pager Management (xMatters) & other M365 components.

Job Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Perform IT system administrative duties for Microsoft Identity Manager, Azure Active Directory, on-premise Active Directory, Azure B2C, M365 Admin Center, Exchange, Cisco Email Gateway, Email Fraud Defense, Kofax, Pager Management, xMatters. This includes upgrades, enhancements, break fix, support issues and security patching.

  • Support the implementation of Oracle Human Capital Management (HCM) EMPower, an integral part of our internal user identities which our Identity Mgmt platform relies on

  • Assist with the replacement of our existing Identity Management platform, moving to a more robust all-encompassing solution

  • Process client requests for Identity Mgmt and Messaging & Collaboration assignment groups in ITNow (ServiceNow)

  • Manage the patching, server rollovers and upgrades of the application servers, application versioning support and administration of MIM, Exchange & Kofax

  • Maintain and enhance automated user provisioning; onboarding, offboarding, transfers, immediate separations

  • Assess mailbox DLP policies, requirements and process adjustments for transfers and separations

  • Interface with end users; daily. Work directly with our stakeholders: HR, Compliance, Cyber Security, Security Technologies, MS App Server, and other IT Bus teams

  • Be a liaison to the business and other departments of IT for access related questions, primarily for identity management architecture, security groups, distribution groups, shared mailboxes, and role-based access

  • Work closely with Central Security Administrators to process client requests in a timely manner ensuring they have the tools and scripts needed to automate processes

  • Support the End User Systems Power BI reports

  • Able to participate in a remote On-Call rotation (one full week Monday through Sunday, once every 6-7 weeks); responding to off-hours pages and alerts

Requirements:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science or other related field with 2 - 4 years of experience in IT; system administrator experiences preferred

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server (stored procedures, views, tables, normalization)

  • Novice support experience with Windows Server Operating Systems (2008 and beyond)

  • Fundamental awareness of PowerShell scripting

  • Understanding the primary purpose of Active Directory, identity management and role-based access

  • Experience with Azure Active Directory, Azure B2C and other Identity Management platforms preferred

  • Experience with Power BI reporting, preferred

  • Understanding of software development lifecycle and application architecture

  • Strong analytical skills to resolve problems and think creatively.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to speak to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Willingness to undertake assignments involving unfamiliar subjects.

  • Highly motivated to work independently and productively, with an aptitude to learn quickly.

  • Able to work with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to work in a virtual environment with remote colleagues utilizing virtual technologies.

  • Willingness to provide excellent customer service

  • Ability to work with third party vendors to work through support/project items

Qualifications include all the above, plus:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science/related field or 4-7 years of experience in IT, system administration experience required

  • Intermediate experience with Identity Management related development and support, preferably with Microsoft Identity Manager (MIM), Azure Active Directory, Azure B2C or other major IDPs (Okta, SailPoint, OneIdentity)

  • Intermediate support experience with Windows Server Operating Systems (2008 and beyond)

  • Intermediate level experience with PowerShell scripting

  • Intermediate level experience with Exchange

  • Understanding of Role Based Access, distribution groups & security group management
