Mechanical Project Engineer

Full-Time
Essential duties and responsibilities which must be performed in order to carry out the position purpose summarized above:
* Identifies project scope; conducts cost/benefit analysis.
* Develops and submits CEA (capital expenditure request).
* Develops specs, recommends vendors and requisitions parts for project(s).
* Participates in developing contract guarantees, deliveries and performance requirements.
* Conducts pre-bid meetings, reviews construction bids, and recommends contractors to Purchasing for capital projects.
* Manages project: oversees all construction scheduling; assures quality and monitors performance.
* Coordinates a variety of corporate disciplines on a project.
* Manages capital project budget: approves expenses, prepares status reports for management.
* Serves as a technical advisor, providing engineering assistance as needed.
* Assists with the development of business plans; identifies process improvement/upgrades.
* Maintains and catalogs all engineering records and drawings.
* Manages multi discipline engineering and construction projects.
* Maintains records of all project meetings and correspondence with contractors and suppliers on capital projects.
* Assures compliance with all company policies.
* Supports continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
* Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
* Ability to apply engineering principles and techniques to the solution of engineering problems.
* Ability to review alternative engineering processes and calculate costs.
* Experience preparing engineering specifications, requests for proposals, contract documents, and design drawings.
* Broad understanding of codes/ regulations (Building, Construction, OSHA, EPA)
* Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to present technical information to non-technical audiences.
* Ability to maintain detailed and accurate records; prepare clear and concise written reports.
* Ability to multi-task.
* Demonstrated project management and supervisory skills.
* Advanced computer skills in CAD and MS Project. Knowledge of mainframe applications and programmable controllers, e.g., Allen Bradley.
* Interpersonal skills: ability to relate to all types of people; demonstrated trust and integrity including confidential information.
* Troubleshooting and organizational skills.
* Must be self motivated and work with limited direction.
Essential Physical Demands and Working Environment:
* Ability to see, communicate, hear and utilize electronic communication devices.
* Subject to plant working conditions.
Previous experience that is necessary background to qualify for this position:
* Moderate level of project engineering experience in a related industry.
