SUMMARY

Manages the software maintenance and production support team focused on ensuring the software and overall system performance and operations are optimized. Additionally, responsible for defining and implementing application performance management standards and technologies, and improving the quality of the code eliminating performance bottlenecks and bugs; and aligning development efforts within the SWBC Software Engineering SDLC.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Engages in hands-on, in-depth analysis, troubleshooting, reviews and designs of the software, including technical reviews and analysis of source code; focuses on continual reduction in application errors and includes reviews of in-house developed code and technologies provided by third-party vendors.
  • Continually drives measured improved software performance for assigned software solutions.
  • Manages the staff and activities involved in the development and maintenance of enterprise wide software applications to ensure release system performance, scalability and reliability are optimized; work to include code analysis; interviews for open positions; coaches, counsels and disciplines; and resolves personnel related issues.
  • Works closely with infrastructure and operations teams to ensure that software performance gaps are identified and re-architected and designed so that computing resources and users' experience is optimized; and ensures that product designs are well documented and communicated.
  • Oversees quality initiatives including code reviews, error log reviews, error coding standards, performance of database access and usage, bottleneck analysis, root cause identification and problem closure.
  • Aligns production support software development and maintenance activities with SWBC software standards, technology roadmaps and SOA strategy.
  • Provides sound decision-making for software engineering and product development which would be sensitive to the constraints and needs of the business.
  • Active in overall architecture, security and certifications of software products with a view for operational performance.
  • Monitors technology trends such as emerging standards for new technology opportunities.
  • Follows and plans for industry trends including researching technology and proposing changes/enhancements.
  • Assists customers to diagnose and resolve product related issues.
  • Provides employee development, teambuilding, and mentoring.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or related field.
  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years of management/leadership experience in a software development organization; which includes at least two (2) years' experience working through the design, development, and releasing cycle delivering software to market.
  • Previous computer programming experience using .NET or other web application frameworks required.
  • Must have strong understanding of the software development cycle.
  • Must have good understanding of the software business and its practices.
  • Must have excellent detail oriented and problem analysis skills.
  • Must have good organizational and time management skills.
  • Must have good negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Must be familiar with most general office machines and be proficient in MS Office including Word and Excel.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time analyzing, modifying, and testing software programs.
  • Must be able to lift or move 20-40 lbs. of computer-related objects, manuals, or other office items.
