Job Description

This opening is in our Kawneer business located in Springdale, AR. We are the leading manufacturer of architectural aluminum products and systems for the commercial construction industry. Kawneer is part of Arconic’s global Building and Construction Systems (BCS) business unit, which manufactures and markets architectural systems and products in North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

The Operations Manager will be responsible for providing leadership and coordinate strategic business initiatives required to drive process improvement throughout the manufacturing operations in pursuit of operational excellence. This will be accomplished by applying knowledge in quality systems and ABS to drive disciplined systems, robust processes, and focused standardization of best practices; in conjunction manage a cohesive set of key performance metrics that provide objective insights into the health and effectiveness of business operating systems.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Apply knowledge and skills in EHS to drive disciplined systems in support of injury-free work culture;
  • Provide overall leadership and strategic direction to the Production departments;
  • Provide direction for a seamless integration of the Physical and Digital Use Cases to obtain the most efficient Smart Manufacturing process possible;
  • Engage shop floor manufacturing in the integration of Physical and Digital Use Cases;
  • Focus on productivity, order fulfillment, schedule adherence, process control and inventory management to ensure customer satisfaction, product quality and the smooth flow of material within the operation;
  • Conduct deep dives to identify the root-cause of manufacturing issues and bring them to a successful resolution;
  • Engage the workforce in problem-solving initiatives and ensure the disciplined execution of manufacturing processes and procedures;
  • Build a high-performance support team and development strategy for direct reports, utilizing a strategy that enhances the diversity of cultures, thoughts, and perspectives through the quality team;
  • Manage the development of talent with a focus on individual development and succession opportunities with Kawneer and Arconic;
  • Develop a structure to identify and deploy best practices for the core process areas.

Major Activities and Key Challenges Include:
  • Possess strong experience and knowledge in lean manufacturing systems (ABS), Production Control, Process Control and Quality systems;
  • Ability to establish clear direction, intentions, and objectives while being able to gain the support of others;
  • Strong leadership, coaching skills, coupled with excellent oral and written communication skills - must be able to direct multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing priorities;
  • Understand the technological complexity of value-added Smart Manufacturing processes and can explain the process correctly to key stakeholders;
  • Working knowledge of query formats and capabilities.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Manufacturing, Engineering or Engineering Technology from an accredited institution;
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment;
  • Minimum of 5 years’ supervisory and / or managerial experience;
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Business, Management or Engineering from an accredited institution;
  • Experience running Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement projects;
  • Experience in architectural aluminum construction industry with a focus on curtain wall, store front and window products;
  • Experience of expertise on people paced processes in production environments;
  • Microsoft Office and JDE experience preferred.
