A current opening through Robert Half Finance, seeks an ambitious, determined Controller to join the team at a prominent construction company. This leadership role oversees an accounting and clerical department. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, handles the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluates accounting and internal control systems, and leads departmental staff. Requirement for this role include a CPA and must have construction industry experience. The full-time Controller position is situated in the Kansas City, Missouri area. How you will make an impact - Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies - Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques - Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation - Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports - Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly - Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required - Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings collections, and payroll - Review and revise deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations - Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations G/L analysis - Complete tasks beyond formal job responsibilities - Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals

Job Requirements

- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field - CPA REQUIRED! - Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required - Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued - Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment - Demonstrated knowledge of financial reporting - Practical knowledge of Job Cost - Annual Financial Reporting experience - Knowledge of year end closings - Adeptness in financial reconciliation - Microsoft Excel experience desired - Deep understanding of ADP Financial Services - Financial Operation experience highly desired - General familiarity with budget forecasting - 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred - Observant, accurate and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment - Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills - Excellent written, verbal and social communication skills - Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds - Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail - Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
