Financial Due Diligence Director

Grant Thornton's Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) practice is focused globally on middle-market transactions, serving dynamic organizations with experienced professionals who bring a full range of advisory services to validate, optimize and create value. Our M&A practice is comprised of several integrated capabilities that support our clients' needs throughout the transaction lifecycle.

By joining the Grant Thornton Financial Due Diligence team, you can immediately contribute to the mutual success of our team and our clients by being a key member of the engagement team. Specifically, the Financial Due Diligence Director is responsible for overseeing all phases of project, including engagement and client management across a variety of industries. Responsibilities include planning, directing, completing projects, developing & managing staff, and developing relationships in the market amongst others. The Financial Due Diligence Director works closely with partners and staff and plays a key role in client management, practice development, and business development for an assigned group of clients.

Your day-to-day may include:

+ Lead buy-side and sell-side transactions for our client base which includes corporate clients, private equity groups and commercial lenders.

+ Manage engagements throughout the transaction lifecycle and coordinate other Grant Thornton capabilities by leveraging the expertise of other service. lines, cross-functional teams and international colleagues as needed.

+ Serve as the day-to-day point person on engagements; lead meetings and calls with clients and target management.

+ Plan, execute, direct and complete financial due diligence for financial and strategic buyers across a variety of industries.

+ Examine & analyze client data to identify key trends, quality of earnings adjustments and net working capital impacts.

+ Draft reports to socialize our findings around quality of earnings, net working capital and business performance including insights around the key financial and business issues in a transaction.

+ Manage client expectations concerning timing, progress, deliverables, deadlines and lead change efforts effectively.

+ Develop and maintain strong client relationships.

+ Manage business development activities, such as proposals, account teams, whitepapers, conferences, and/or other thought leadership material.

+ Work closely with engagement teams and partners to promptly identify and resolve client problems or issues.

+ Meet or exceed sales targets for new and follow-on work.

+ Meet or exceed targeted billing hours (utilization).

+ Manage, develop, train, coach and mentor staff on projects and assess performance for engagement and year-end reviews.

+ Motivate others to perform at maximum efficiency without sacrificing quality of the services delivered.

+ Interview campus and/or experienced candidates.

+ Other duties as assigned.

You have the following technical skills, qualifications and abilities:

+ Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.

+ Certifications & Licensures: CPA or related license/certification preferred.

+ Experience: Minimum of 10 years of related work experience in Financial Due Diligence.

+ Strong current knowledge in US GAAP, GAAS, SEC Reporting, transaction advisory services or mergers and acquisitions.

+ Ability to manage multiple priorities and simultaneous projects in a rapidly growing practice.

+ Strong leadership, business development, recruitment, training, and mentoring skills.

+ Excellent written, presentation, leadership, and interpersonal communication skills.

+ Ability to work additional hours as needed and up to 25% travel to various client sites.

The base salary range for this position in Manhattan/New York City only is between $188,400 and $297,400.

The base salary range for this position in Los Angeles only is between $188,400 and $297,400.

The base salary range for this position in San Francisco only is between $200,500 and $316,700.
