We are recruiting for a Senior Data and Implementation Analyst to join our Optum Application Managed Services (AMS) team. The AMS team partners with health plan clients to become an extension of their organization. The highly seasoned staff is dedicated to managing Prospective Payment Systems (PPS) as well as looking at where PPS fits in the clients “Ecosystem.”  AMS provides services that will help provide long term benefit for the client, not only direct savings and increased revenue but also savings in process, manual effort and other operational areas.





The Senior Data and Implementation Analyst is responsible for ensuring effective delivery of new and ongoing client engagements, interface development, configuration, migration efforts, along with development and support for existing internal software tools. This role must maintain a strong working relationship and partnership with the AMS functional team members in order to ensure that the team is aware of client business and technical contractual requirements and project needs.

Primary Responsibilities:




  • Manage and execute (coding, QA, and documentation) on complex technology projects related to key the Optum PPS AMS business needs.  Work will require SQL, ETL, and Python skills to accomplish the needed outcomes

  • Manages all phases of Prospective Payment Systems (PPS) implementation internal and external projects

  • Ensures successful installation, implementation, and configuration for large scale, complex projects, including new platform implementations, multi-line of business roll-out, business intelligence tools, etc.

  • Comfortable and capable working with all levels of management across and functional areas, as well as business partners through internal entities

  • Compile Documentation: Processes and Procedures related to all internal and external client work  

  • Apply advanced analytical / quantitative approach to problem solving for large complex clients with multiple lines of business and/or products

  • Works directly with customers to define project requirements and provide ongoing support related to project results

  • Engage with dedicated clients via Remote Desktop, Microsoft Teams, Zoom or similar tools to apply updates or Troubleshoot issues leveraging Regulatory or Technical documentation

  • Support Optum Business Partners in responding to technical questions around interface support as needed

Required Qualifications:




  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

  • 5+ years of experience working with relational databases (SQL Server, MySQL, etc.), database structures and design, systems design and data management

  • 3+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL performing Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes

  • 2+ years of experience with Python

  • Some Facility and/or Professional claims reimbursement experience - Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial

  • Experience applying analytical and quantitative approaches to problem solving

  • Experience interacting with end clients or business partners via internal or external meetings

  • Business and Technical Experience with any of the following Optum software: EASYGroup™, PSI, Web.Strat™, Rate Manager





Preferred Qualifications




  • Master’s degree

  • 5+ years of experience with Microsoft Excel

  • 5+ years of working in a healthcare data or regulatory environment

  • Experience in .NET or IIS

  • Experience documenting client or health plan operational and technical workflows

  • Experience breaking down information and developing solutions

  • Experience configuring and customizing software solutions

  • Claims system knowledge - Trizetto Facets, Networx Pricer, QNXT, Health Rules Payer, IKA Claims, Burgess Systems, Epic Tapestry, 3M preferred

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of Prospective Payment Systems - includes DRG, APC, OCE, ESRD, CAH, CMG, RUG, RBRV

  • Management of Healthcare projects from a business (claims data) and/or technical (SQL, Web Services, Claim Systems) workflows

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island or Washington residents is $101,200 to $184,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
