Accessibility Specialist
18 months contract (working on W2)
Location: Remote (USA)

As an Accessibility Specialist, you will collaborate directly with product, design, and engineering to create fully accessible products. You are accomplished in auditing systems using available tools to find accessibility issues, recommend solutions for violations found, and have the experience and expertise to expand web accessibility knowledge and practices within the product team. You will socialize, administer and continuously support our accessibility strategy and implementation aspiring to deliver inclusive products for our users. You'll have an influential role in championing accessibility across the organization.

General Requirements:

  • Understanding of M365 Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Outlook document properties including alternate texts, color contrast, table structures, headings/styles, paragraph banners, charts, and hyperlink text
  • Familiarity and/or experience with M365 Accessibility Checker, understanding of the result types, and remediation paths. [ Link removed ] - Click here to apply to Accessibility Specialist
  • Experience curating guidance material within the construct of a user scenario
  • Directly support product teams by integrating Accessibility into every phase of the product development lifecycle
  • Create clearly defined standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the usability of products with assistive technologies and collaborate with engineers to identify, reproduce, prioritize, and document defects
  • Provide training to staff to ensure they understand the importance of accessibility and ways to incorporate best practices into product delivery
  • Assist product teams to create and maintain product Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs) for multiple web products
  • Partner with members of our Product teams to ensure proper accessibility representation and communication to customers and partners

Accessibility Specific Requirements:

  • Testing accessibility of worksheets, documents, emails, and presentations on desktops and mobile
  • Familiarity and/or experience testing with Magnifier, Immersive Reader
  • Familiarity and/or experience with accessible font formats, colors accessible lists, ScreenTips
  • Knowledge on accessibility essentials to guide continuous improvement of existing/new document compliance
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices as it relates to document curation/updates in the M365 suite
  • Experience with accessibility standards and guidelines (WCAG, Section 508, and VPATs)
  • Demonstrated familiarity with WAI-ARIA and HTML/CSS semantics and tagging
