Enterprise Business Manager -Western Region

 Position Description:     In an assigned geographic region, provide overall leadership and management to promote the shared business interests of Turner Logistics (TL), Medical Research Solutions (MRS), Global Sourcing Solutions (GSS), and the Turner BU’s. Take ownership of and responsibility for producing the short and long-range plan targets of TL, MRS, and GSS in the assigned region, while setting the image, demonstrating the core values, and implementing the Company’s standards of business conduct.

Reports To:      Senior Vice President or Executive Vice President

Essential Duties & Responsibilities*:

  • Lead and manage the Turner Logistics group (TL/MRS/GSS) sales and project activity in the assigned region
  • Develop a general Business Plan and strategy for the TL Group based upon consideration of the market, organizational capabilities, and competition. Create contingency plans for the unexpected.
  • Using the general business plan as a guideline, develop and implement the Annual Profit Plan. Establish a system to reevaluate and plan as necessary in order to achieve stated goals.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety, ethics and compliance requirements throughout the  Turner Logistics Group in the assigned region.
  • Develop and oversee sales strategies and conduct formal review of sales prospects along with participation in pursuits, meetings, presentations, etc.
  • Establish meaningful and long-term relationships with present and potential future clients in the Turner Logistics Group in the assigned region.
  • Establish communication protocols to ensure that information is shared through the Turner Logistics Group in the assigned region.
  • Promote the philosophy of “One Turner”. Communicate, collaborate, and support the business units and Company objectives, market types, national clients, etc., in the pursuit of sales. Look for growth opportunities for staff within and outside the Turner Logistics Group in the assigned region.
  • Oversee management of the Turner Logistics group in the assigned region and communicate openly and regularly with the Business Units in the assigned region.
  • Lead, train, and develop direct reports, including completion of performance evaluations. Manage the “people resources” of the Turner Logistics group in the assigned region to meet the goals established for work-in-place, budget, earnings, and new sales
  • Establish clear lines of authority, supported by a published organization chart to properly support the Business Plan.
  • Provide leadership in risk evaluation, contract negotiations, fee and pricing decisions.
  • Establish and maintain procedures to protect the financial assets of the Turner Logistics Group in the assigned region. This includes overview and approval of all financial reports, compliance with Company policy, and timely reporting of known risks.
  • Identify and secure additional opportunities to enhance Turner’s position by including all Turner initiatives in the business deal when appropriate.
  • With assistance and involvement by Turner Logistics Group senior staff, become a good corporate citizen in the community and maximize Turner-controlled resources to benefit Turner Logistics Group goals and objectives.

Qualifications:    Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of at least 15 years of building construction experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. Thorough understanding of the commercial construction industry and the markets in which the Business Unit participates including in-depth knowledge of the Owners, Developers, and Architects within the respective markets.

Performing this job requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, sit, talk and hear (bells, whistles, etc.), stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment:     While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.  The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.
