Job Details:
Jogan Health is looking for a Certified Surgical Technician to start immediately for a local contract at a Surgery Center in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
Title: Certified Surgical Technologist
Pay: $31/hr
Location: Wheat Ridge, CO
Job Type: Contract
Employment Type: Local
Estimated hours: 36 per week
Duration: 13 weeks with possible extension

Responsibilities:

  1. Function as a scrub person during operative and other invasive procedures by:
    1. Protecting the patient from injury caused by extraneous objects and chemical, electrical, laser, mechanical, and thermal sources.
    2. Demonstrating safe operating of equipment and machinery and follows procedures for reporting and correcting an unsafe situation.
    3. Performing accounting procedures to protect the patient from unintended retained surgical items.
    4. Speaking up with safety concerns acting as the patient’s advocate.
    5. Handling specimens according to facility policy and procedures.
    6. Adhering to standard precautions including the use of personal protective equipment.
    7. Performing interventions to maintain the patient’s wound and tissue perfusion at or above baseline levels.
    8. Performing interventions to protect the patient from surgical site infection.
    9. Assembling supplies and equipment required for the procedure.
    10. Preparing and organizing sterile supplies and instruments for the procedure.
    11. Providing instruments and supplies to the surgical team during the procedure.
    12. Protecting the patient’s rights, dignity, and privacy.
    13. Providing age-specific, culturally competent, ethical care within legal standards of practice.
    14. Maintaining a fire safe environment.
    15. Practicing and monitoring aseptic technique.
    16. Complying with Universal Protocol and facility site validation and time-out policy.
  2. Maintain radiation safety at all times in accordance with facility policies and procedures.
  3. Clean and prepare surgical instruments for processing and transport them to the decontamination areas.
  4. Evaluate the patient’s progress toward attaining outcomes.
  5. Provide hand-off report to other teammates that are accurate, concise and pertinent to the patient’s condition and response to care.
  6. Document episode of care accurately, timely, completely, and legibly.
  7. Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration skills with members of the perioperative team and other stakeholders.
  8. Assist with post procedure cleaning of the operative or other invasive procedure room and preparation of room for subsequent patients.
  9. Serve as a member of a multidisciplinary team in planning perioperative patient care.
  10. Participate in quality review and performance improvement projects.
  11. Participate in the performance appraisal process.
  12. Use problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships.
  13. Maintain required competencies.
  14. Pursue professional growth.
  15. Act as a patient advocate and maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information.
  16. Comply with all SCA and facility policies and procedures, regulatory and accreditation standards and professional guidelines when providing patient care.
  17. Actively participate in team meetings, trainings, and daily safety huddles.
  18. Demonstrate fiscal responsibility.
  19. Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  1. High School Graduate or equivalent.
  2. Graduate of a recognized and accredited Surgical Technologist Program.
  3. Prior Experience as a Surgical Technologist preferred.
  4. Current Surgical Technologist certification preferred.
  5. Successful completion of BCLS Course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BCLS certification.
