Job Summary

This position is responsible for the development and implementation of the Company’s procurement plans for Natural Gas and Power supplies for its core market customers.  This role will support the Company’s efforts to recover prudently incurred gas costs by providing analysis and support for the development of the Company’s annual Purchase Gas Cost filing.



Duties and Responsibilities

  • Planning & Procurement: Develop daily purchase, storage, and peaking plans in order to meet UGI’s statutory least cost procurement mandate while at the same time ensuring reliability of supply and price stability.  Implement supply plans by purchasing natural gas supplies according to least cost.  Identify and take advantage of market opportunities related to off-system sales and capacity to optimize revenues with the goal of reducing costs for our customers.  Maintain timely and accurate records of supply transactions, inventory, balancing activity, demand, and transportation customer deliveries.
  • Power Supply: Implement the Company’s Default Service plan.  Manage tracking and reporting of power pricing, congestion and loss activity and contract valuations.  Manage inventory of renewable energy credits, accruals, and retirements.  Develop forecasts for quarterly power costs.  
  • Sendout Forecasting & Management: Manage administration of GasDay forecasts and PRT.  Analyze results versus actuals.  Track, compare, and resolve variances between supplier and company measurement.  Prepare weekly and monthly reporting related to sendout, btu content, and lost & unaccounted for gas.  
  • Regulatory: Provide support for development of PGC Books/data and Default Service Plan.  Provide monthly reporting related to purchase and sale transactions.  Provide accurate and timely responses to data interrogatories and provide other supporting analysis as needed as part of the annual PGC filings as well as during other regulatory proceedings and audits.  


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of UGI’s pipeline capacity portfolio and entitlements.
  • Statistical, Economic, and Financial Analysis.
  • Knowledge of UGI’s transportation programs.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and adaptable to changing circumstances.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s in Business, Accounting, Engineering or related discipline preferred.
  • At least 2 years of related work experience with a Bachelor’s degree;  or an Associate’s degree and at least 4 years of related work experience; or at least 6 years of related work experience in lieu of degree.  
  • Natural gas, electric, or commodity experience preferred.
