WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-time Ports and Marine Engineer I/Diver for our New York and surrounding offices. For over 110-years WSP has been a leader in waterfront structural design in the United States dating back to the design of the Cape Cod Canal in 1909. The WSP Maritime group is a dynamic and energetic group with strong work ethics and a great culture of collaboration and camaraderie. You would be joining one of the largest and best waterfront/marine design group in the region. The projects are diverse in nature, interesting, and challenging. Already having divers on the west coast, WSP is looking to expand our capabilities with a dive team on the east coast. Come and help to make that a reality.
Your Impact
* Perform structural design for marine and upland components under supervision of senior ports and marine engineers
* Prepare technical written communications in the form of memoranda and reports
* Support managers in the creation of plans, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates in accordance with client requirements
* Work in a team to make sure that work product meets scope, schedule, cost and quality requirements
* Prepare drawings in AUTOCAD, REVIT or MicroStation and perform design calculations in support of broader engineering activities
* Participate with the engineer-dive team on condition assessment work
* Work collaboratively with other engineers, architects, and building, infrastructure, transportation, and port authorities on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded improvement and development projects.
* Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
* Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree in Marine Engineering, Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
* 1 to 3 years of relevant experience.
* Familiarity with marine, port, and coastal engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to project work-related issues.
* Experience with discipline-specific design software (i.e., AutoCAD, Revit).
* Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
* Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
* Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
* Must successfully complete and pass WSP's Motor Vehicle screening
Preferred Qualifications:
* Engineer in Training Certification.
* Masters in Civil/Structural/Coastal preferred
* Field investigation and/or construction experience
* A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.
* Commercial dive license (ADCI or DCBC)
Compensation and Benefits:
WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability, life, and retirement savings focused on a providing health and financial stability throughout the employee's career.
Expected Salary: $59,000 - $106,400
WSP USA is providing the compensation range and general description of other compensation and benefits that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, or federal law.
