The gas and flame detection business provides a portfolio of fixed and portable industrial gas and flame detection instruments used in a variety of industries including petrochemical, power generation, oil & gas, food & beverage, mining and waste water treatment. These rugged trace gas analyzers feature fast response time, intrinsically-safe sensors and satisfy multiple international certification standards.

Position Summary and Responsibilities

Summary: Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

Shipping:

  • Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
  • Determines method of shipment.
  • Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
  • Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.
  • Inserts items into containers.
  • Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
  • Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
  • Routes items to departments.
  • Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
  • Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Operates tier lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
  • Follows all import/export requirements, consulting with facility import/export personnel as required.

Receiving:

  • Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
  • Routes items to departments.
  • Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Operates tier lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
  • Work with carriers to facilitate unloading, storage and organization of products
  • Verify incoming materials and perform visual inspection to ensure that all products are not damaged or deteriorated.
  • Report incoming packages to appropriate department/end-user.
  • Maintain accurate log of materials to reflect incoming and outgoing traffic of products
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

High School diploma or GED equivalent with a minimum of 0-2 years of experience in a similar position required.

Computer Skills

Experience with inventory software as well as Microsoft Office.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Forklift certification is a plus.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to stand and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, push/pull, stoop, bend and kneel. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Basic Knowledge of ISO and/or AS9100
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing/6 Sigma/Kaizen
  • DOT, IATA, and/or IMO hazardous waste training
