POSITION: Operations Manager

FLSA: Exempt

REPORTS TO: Vice President

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Direct P&L and leadership responsibility for assigned Project Managers and teams and associated project staff including field labor.


POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Operations Manager provides overall team leadership, technical direction, estimate reviews and business development for Instrumentation and Controls projects/teams and will have overall bottom line responsibility for profit and loss, and consequently carry the authority appropriately. Travel to project sites is required which may include temporary relocation from time to time if needed.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Oversee total construction and design effort (if applicable) to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, National Electric Code, budget, and schedule.
  • Demonstrate strong people leadership skills, including the ability to build a diverse multi-generational and multi-disciplinary team.
  • Actively participate in the professional development of each team member through performance feedback, performance reviews and the creation of development plans.
  • Manage department P&L for successful outcome.
  • Identify and manage company and project risk proactively
  • Serve as a Project Executive for communication between both internal and external members on the project including, but not limited to: Owner, General Contractors, Construction Manager, Engineering Firms, Subcontractors, Superintendents, General Foremen and union officials.
  • Authorize and/or approve all project staff transactions including choice of project manager, management support personnel, superintendent, general foremen and foremen.
  • Provide direction to planning, scheduling and engineering functions.
  • Participate with internal teams to estimate projects and write bid proposals.
  • Review and approve purchase requisitions, payment approvals, sending invoices, and change order requests.
  • Perform monthly financial reviews and report projected performance to finance.
  • Accountable for the implementa\u00adtion and execution of safety programs and ensures that all OSHA, Sachs and customer's requirements are met.
  • Participates in business development activities to position Sachs as the number one choice in the market.
  • Creates annual business plan and executes successfully against plan goals

OTHER FUNCTIONS

  • Ensure that all company client and project policies, procedures, and standards are adhered to and understood by team(s).
  • Ensure the maintenance of all official project documentation and logs.
  • Maintain and develop customer relationships; solicit feedback to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of labor agreements and standards specific to projects.
  • Perform additional assignments as needed.
  • Participate as an active and collaborative member of the Sachs Leadership Team
  • Actively recruit and participate in recruiting efforts.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ Years in the Instrumentation & Controls Field with detailed knowledge of PLC/DDC Control Systems and System Startup/Commissioning is preferable.
  • Knowledge of Power Plants, Petrochemical, Water/Wastewater, and other Industrial Processes and associated instrumentation systems a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in managing the P & L of an operational department with a minimum of $10 Million in revenue per year
  • BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering/ related field of study or equivalent in job experience
  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Outstanding interpersonal and team leadership skills
  • Must possess strong attention to detail and ensure maximum quality of work throughout the lifecycle of the project
  • Experience with Accubid a plus
  • Experience with Bluebeam Revu a plus
