Job Description

Due to the nature of this project, our Client requires, for security purposes, that all employees are U.S. citizens or Green Card holders.

Our client is currently seeking a Firewall Engineer. Providing Firewall management diagnostics to reduce complexity and increase security.

Main responsibilities included:
•         Analyze existing firewall rules using Firemon and QRadar to locate redundancies and unused rules.
•         Analyze firewall configurations to locate rules that cancel each other out an make changes to correct errors.
•         Submit tickets using Service Now, requesting changes to the firewall configuration files.
•         Analyze firewall rules to determine whether certain rules are necessary.
•         Discuss access needs of departments and configure new rules to support those needs.
•         Deploy new rules based on the department needs and submit Service Now tickets to have those rules engaged.

Approximately 200 external users that require firewall rules to be created. Expected to create rules for about 15 users per week.
Approx 16 weeks with ramp up time included.
read Firewall ACL's, evaluate traffic patterns to and from hosts, talk to server owners and submit tickets thru ServiceNow
Establish egress control, disable idle and redundant rules, block outbound NTP and DNS and SMB.
refresh egress reports from QRadar which needs to be updated. Group by originating host and sort by number of outbound sessions.
Handle originating hosts whether a server or a workstation for allow, and deny rules.
