Senior Associate Director of Thames and International Enrollment
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Represents the College by demonstrating the highest standards of integrity and personal and professional conduct, adhering to the Standards and Principles of Good Practice established by the National Association of College Admissions Counselors (NACAC).
- Supervises the Associate Director of Admissions (Thames).
- Provides guidance at all stages of the admissions process from inquiry through acceptance; responsibilities may include:
- Help families determine the appropriate program by reviewing diagnostic testing and discussing students' learning profiles.
- Assist families through the application process and requirements.
- Actively market the Thames at Mitchell and Mitchell College educational model and programs (including SAILS (Self-Advocacy and Interpersonal Life-skills Support) at Mitchell Program, and the Bentsen Learning Center to potential students and their families.
- Works collaboratively with the Admissions and Thames teams to recruit students to Mitchell's Thames Program.
- Serves as a recruiter and secondary advisor to Thames and International students enrolling at Mitchell.
- Promotes the College through travel to college fairs, high school visits, presentations, meetings, social media, online, and campus events.
- Develops and maintains a robust referral network of independent, public/private school counselors, and public/private/nonprofit and alumni resources capable of helping achieve recruiting goals.
- Conducts meetings, counseling, visit coordination, financial aid coordination, and follow-up for prospective students and families.
- Develops and carries out individualized recruitment strategies aligned with the overall strategic enrollment management plan to recruit prospective students.
- Meets assigned recruitment goals, assessing individual progress toward goals using data while simultaneously contributing to the overall strategic operation of the department
- Exercises sound stewardship of college resources.
- Meets with potential families to provide information about the college's mission, culture and programs, and appraise their willingness and commitment to partner effectively with the college.
- Assesses student applicants for admissibility throughout the yearly admission cycle; conduct student interviews to determine potential compatibility with the college; and generate written student interview reports.
- Provides regular outreach to students regarding required enrollment documentation.
- Engages in campus tours and on-campus events, such as Open Houses, Accepted Student Days, and various virtual events.
- Contributes to the enrollment process from inquiry to enrollment and to the development of enrollment strategies using, interpreting, and applying data toward the effective recruitment and retention of students.
- Maintains confidentiality of all information submitted by students and their parents.
- Masters, uses, and leverages technologies to support student recruitment and communication.
- Maintains up-to-date comprehensive and effective working knowledge of federal, state and college regulations.
- Collaborates campus-wide, specifically with Thames, Academics, Student Affairs, and Athletics, regarding student recruitment and retention.
Required Education and Experience:
- Master's degree required.
- 3-5 years of experience in higher education or a secondary school setting, or at least 2 years of relevant experience in admission and recruitment activities for students at the collegiate level, specifically with neurodivergent students.
- ESL experience preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills, including strong communication and interpersonal skills and establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
- Demonstrated experience recruiting neuro-divergent students and/or individuals with learning differences is required.
- Ability to work independently is a must, as well as being a part of a dynamic team - - prioritize tasks, organize work effectively, meet deadlines under pressure, and work effectively as a team member.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.
- Ability to make presentations in public, such as at campus open houses, high school events, regional events, and receptions, etc.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Experience using mobile technology and client relationship databases.
- Extensive travel is required.
- A valid driver's license is required.
Key Skills / Knowledge:
- Competent user of Microsoft Office including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel and preferred use of higher education CRM software (i.e. Technolutions - SLATE)
- Competent user of email, mobile devices and applications, presentational software, social media and web enabled technologies - - maintain complete and accurate written records using data bases, notes, files, automated calendars and web enabled tools so that others can readily interpret and understand the status of a prospective or current student at any given time.
- Excellent presentation and communications skills, both written and verbal.
- Attention to details and ability to anticipate and plan/take initiative.
- Organized and able to manage one's time and prioritize within a fast-paced and goal-driven environment
