About The Job

Sandy Spring Bank is currently recruiting a Senior Personal Banker in the Retail Sales Department. If you are the chosen candidate you will be responsible for uncovering and servicing client needs, opening deposit accounts, cross selling products and services. You will refer clients to sales personnel in other business lines, accept and process consumer loan applications and assist with processing small business loan applications. The candidate will also assist in coordinating daily operations of the branch.

Areas of Focus:

  • Take a leading role in achieving production goals for deposits, loans, fee income and other goals assigned, as well as coordinating with branch staff and other business lines to achieve growth objectives utilizing standard sales techniques to generate business.

  • Adhere to all required services standards to earn client’s trust and serve as a role model for other branch staff in delivering the highest quality service.

  • Complete understanding of all deposit and retail loan products and related services sold in the branch maintaining familiarity with products sold by other business lines.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of credit standards and loan processing procedures for retail loans; opens deposit accounts and accepts, process and settles loan applications

  • Ensure procedures are followed or makes authorized exceptions to procedure/policy to maintain optimal branch performance in service, quality, accuracy and efficiency.

  • Follows established audit, security and compliance guidelines to protect the staff, company assets and clients from harm or loss.

  • Participate in branch meetings to develop and promote ideas for meeting business plan goals.

  • Represent Sandy Spring Bank to clients and community in a professional, courteous manner at all times. Participates in company sponsored community events.

  • Assist with general administrative and operational tasks for the branch and assist with training new Personal Banker’s or other staff.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum of 1 to 3 years of work experience in a sales/services position, preferably in the financial services industry with demonstrated, successful client service and sales.

  • Ability to operate standard office equipment as well as a personal computer with knowledge of various computer systems through experience and/or provided training to research and resolve account problems.

  • Analytical ability to research and analyze data.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent ability to speak, read and write English to express ideas effectively, comprehend clients’ needs and instructions, be fully understood by clients and legibly complete required correspondence forms.

  • Independent judgement required in the interpretation of existing policies and procedures, referring unusual matters to supervisor or other team member.
