SUMMARY The Patient Care Technician (PCT) under the supervision of a Professional Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, and/or Physician is responsible for providing age-appropriate, culturally and ethnically sensitive care, maintaining a safe environment, collecting information, communicating effectively and utilizing technology. The PCT provides personal care of selected patients; assists with activities of daily living, provides comfort measures and nourishments. The PCT also performs selected tasks and therapies as delegated by a licensed professional. The role of the PCT also includes patient advocacy, teaching and performance improvement. The PCT primarily functions in the inpatient settings.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Successful completion of a PCT Program or successful completion of the Basic Nursing Fundamental course from an accredited School of Nursing.
Current American Heart Association approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
