The Job

As the Network Engineer II you will provide network engineering expertise contributing to the vision and strategy in engineering solutions for highly available enterprise networks and supporting components. The IT Network Engineer II will hold primary responsibility to recommend and accomplish best practices for network asset management and rugged mobile device management processes and procedures. This role will also contribute to the delivery of standardized enterprise network solutions, support services, network management, and monitoring to support future business strategies, maintain production services, resolve complicated IT issues, and all other work as assigned.   

What You’ll Do:

  • Contribute to the vision and strategy for enterprise network engineering solutions
  • Interact with IT stakeholders to analyze and interpret needs that require detailed IT enterprise network solutions and engineering services
  • Continuously improve and expand existing technologies
  • Contribute to managing network availability, performance and capacity
  • Contribute to technical support activities
  • Contribute to business management of the enterprise network
  • Contribute to development of standard operation procedures for support of technical solutions
  • Contribute to development of training curriculum

What You Need:  

  • Education:
    • Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent in Information Technology or related field
    • Require professional network certification, e.g. CCNA or equivalent
    • Other IT networking certifications are a plus
  • Experience:
    • 5 plus years’ experience working in an IT organization supporting a geographically dispersed, multi-site medium to large enterprise
    • 4 years’ hands-on experience leading IT enterprise network engineering, management, mobile devices, and solution delivery practices of resilient network architecture
    • 3 plus years of hands on experience working independently to install, operate, maintain, configure and troubleshoot rugged mobile devices, printing services, network systems, and cabling
    • 3 plus years managing supplier relationships, driving the process of proposal requests, negotiations, product selection, and contract management
    • Working experience with carriers to provision, install, and support voice and data networks
    • Working experience in situations requiring strong business acumen; analytical, interpersonal, negotiations, time management, industry knowledge, project management, written and oral communications
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Hands-on technical proficiency with rugged mobile devices, and thermal printing technologies; e.g. Zebra, Motorola, Windows10, Android, SATO, Printronix,
    • Hands-on technical expertise with all aspects of mobile device management, including creating application packages, security profiles, remote device control, configuration enrollment, reporting, etc; e.g. SOTI MobiControl
    • Hands-on technical proficiency with industry leading enterprise network platforms, technologies, and solutions; e.g. Cisco, Brocade, WAN, LAN, WLAN, SAN, SDN, etc.
    • Hands-on technical proficiency with network infrastructure concepts, technologies, and protocols such as: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, OSPF, BGP, FTP, SFTP, POP, SMTP, SIP, RTP, OSPF, Ethernet, MPLS, IP routing, switching, Quality of Service, firewalls, network security, network management, and other related communication protocols
    • Proficiency implementing network projects from inception to implementation. This includes overall design, expansion, enhancements, and technical documentation
    • Proficiency in development, design, deployment, and support of network solutions supporting voice, data and mobility, utilizing industry leading platforms and technologies
    • Proficiency in network performance and capacity management strategies and tactics
    • Proficiency understanding enterprise applications and compute platforms
    • Proficiency understanding and deploying underlying infrastructure wiring and connectivity
    • Proficiency using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio required
    • Strong research skills in solving complicated networking challenges
    • Strong ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner with attention and sensitivity to the audience and content
    • Self-starter with strong interest in developing and maintaining a strong end to end understanding of how solutions are utilized by the business
    • Demonstrated experience in requirement collection, solution design and deployment
    • Understanding of supporting and troubleshooting complicated IT solutions
    • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, delivering on multiple projects simultaneously
    • Enthusiastic team player with the ability to collaborate, cooperate and communicate with leadership and peers across business units
    • Interactive skills to organize and coordinate team efforts in identifying, analyzing, and remediating complicated challenges with consistency and quality
