Summary

The Product Safety Engineer (Functional Safety) works on projects that focus on interactions between passengers and vehicles. We design touch screens, cameras that interact with passengers or more traditional products such as control panels.

Job description:

Coordinate and carry out operational safety activities in support of the development of semi and fully autonomous driver assistance systems (ADAS)

Ensure the design and development of Driver Assistance products and solutions are carried out in accordance with the ISO26262 Functional Safety Standard

Carry out safety design reviews in the project teams

Contribute to the writing of group standards

Participate in innovation through patents filing

Provide some technical training for all Product Groups


Responsibilities:

Functional Safety Management: Identifies, plans, organizes, tracks and documents all necessary Functional Safety activities within a project.

Ensure close co-operation with the RandD PTM and other Functional Safety resources locally, other client sites and external contractors.

Act as a mentor, guide for product development Functional Safety activities.

Organize, prepare, track, support, moderate Functional Safety activities and Functional Safety analysis.

You are responsible for creating/leading Development Interface Agreement (DIA), Safety plan, TSC and Safety

Case activities.

You ensure documentation of Functional Safety activities, establishes evidence of Functional Safety.

You negotiate and agree with the Customer the scope and common understanding of the Functional Safety requirements.

You are responsible for interfacing with customer and other stakeholders to ensure common understanding and agreement on Functional Safety implementation.

You define, track and reports the functional safety KPI's.

You define and manage the safety verification and validation activities.

You ensure the scheduling the Safety RAISE reviews in his team.


Functional Safety Engineering Activities:

You carry out design analysis to support the development of safety case arguments for safety related products.

You create, contribute as necessary (planned) to hazard and risk analyses, safety plan, functional and technical safety concept

You identify Functional Safety requirements based on the Customer Requirements

You ensure the integration of the Functional Safety activities in the developed project based on defined Functional Safety development plan

You lead hazard and risk analyses (PHA) where necessary

You support the definition/specification of Functional Safety requirements for System HW and SW architecture

You collaborate with the design team for an effective technical solution, to achieve adequate robustness at System, HW and SW architectural level in compliance with ISO26262

You prepare and assist to the Safety Assessment Reviews held by safety assessor

You lead or participate to safety analysis processes (e.g. FMEAs, FTAs, FMEDAs, etc.)


Qualifications:

Experienced Product Safety Engineer with at least 4 years of hands on experience and 2 years in Functional Safety OR Reliability

Must have a Bachelor degree in Computer, Mechanical, Electrical or Systems Engineering, more preferred if its a Masters degree or related STEM degree

Experience with Products Development Life Cycle (Systems, Software)

Strong analytic and problem-solving skills

Strong technical leadership, communication, planning and organization/control skills

Experience of taking customer requirements to production

Currently active FSCAE/AFSP certification preferred

Experience in Software Quality and process ( e.g., ASPICE, CMMI, IATF16949)
