Jr. or Mid-Level Database Admin – Sybase, Oracle, or SQL Server

Location of Services: Tampa, FL

POSITION SUMMARY

The Jr. or Mid-Level Database Administrator (DBA) will be directly responsible for the installation, configuration, backup/recovery, upgrade, patching, maintenance, performance tuning and monitoring of all databases across the customer landscapes.  DBA will also need to ensure compliance to various security and encryption protocols across the various environments. The successful candidate will need to have an excellent understanding of and extensive knowledge of standard system tools with the ability to use them to automate complex system tasks. Experience in a large networked environment with good understanding of network fundamentals is essential as is knowledge of network file systems and storage options.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITES

  • 24x7 support of customer environments including operations, incidents, service requests and execution of changes
  • Perform/coordinate incident diagnosis, corrective action, and root cause analysis
  • Pro-actively highlight and address potential problems and investigate solutions in conjunction
  • Provide monitoring of jobs and logs for HANA, Sybase, Oracle, and SQL Servers systems
  • Develop scripts in Shell and VBS related to monitors and automation of checks
  • Identify areas for improvement with a view to maintaining and enhancing the reliability, stability, integrity and security of the customer landscapes
  • Leverage existing automation to expedite deployments and service requests as well we identify areas of operations quality deficit or automation opportunities
  • Ensure contractual SLAs are met
  • Conform and adhere to change process for customer environments
  • Create documenting for all process and support tasks
  • Maintain responsibility for end-user (customer) satisfaction
  • Willing to work a second shift (e.g. 4 to mid-night) or after hours and weekends
  • Responsible for sharing 24 x 7 on-call duties with other team members

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information , Computer Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience working in a Database / Network Operations Center preferably in a cloud environment
  • Experience with Sybase, Oracle, or SQL Server
  • Experience with database, backup/restore. patching, installations, troubleshooting, tuning, and  monitoring
  • Experience with Shell scripting
  • Strong documentation skills are necessary
  • Experience with SAP HANA a plus
  • Knowledge and familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English
  • Candidates must be a US Citizen that is open to obtaining and maintaining a DoD Secret Security Clearance per condition of employment
