Accounting Supervisor - Eden Prairie, MN or Telecommute

OptumCare company is a part of the Optum network of health care providers, whose mission is to connect and support providers by working together to deliver the most effective and compassionate care to each and every patient they serve.  The Mountain West Region Accounting Team offers support to AZ, UT, NV, CO, NM, ID and KS for all accounting related matters. We work collaboratively with the individual finance teams to produce various financial reports.



The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating monthly close process and analysis of medical claims data into the GL. Responsibilities include support and development of staff (onsite and telecommuters), providing day-to-day oversight and training, ensuring claims is flowing into the ledger accurately and timely. This position will also serve as the liaison between multiple departments to track and record claims and provider transactions. Maintain general ledger accounts and related activities for the production of financial statements and reports.



Primary Responsibilities:





  • Responsible for auditing functions needed to perform general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations




  • Prepare documentation in support of external and internal audits




  • Review and prepare various monthly journal entries




  • Review financial reports for accuracy and reasonableness




  • Responsible for preparing analysis related to provider incentives




  • Validation and monitoring some provider recoveries and check processes




  • Reconciling data files and reporting errors/out of balances for correction,




  • Review and approve work of others




  • Anticipates customer needs and proactively develops solutions to meet them     




  • Ensure integrity, accuracy, and reasonableness of financial results.




  • Develop innovative approaches for continued improvement in efficiency and effectiveness




  • Ad hoc information gathering, analysis, reporting as needed

Required Qualifications:





  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance




  • 3+ years of accounting experience




  • Strong accounting, financial, analytical, and problem-solving skills




  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written.




  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential job function of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements. Preferred Qualifications:





  • Experience with Hyperion Essbase, PeopleSoft Financials, and Microsoft Products




  • Banking familiarity is preferred




  • Public Accounting is a plus




  • Healthcare or Insurance experience especially in Claims area
