Job Description

If you are an experienced Systems Administrator, Cloud Services looking for a position with a leading company, Bartech can help! We are a leading staffing firm and our clients include some over the nation’s biggest companies. Our client has a need for a Systems Administrator, Cloud Services. This is a contract position; however it is not uncommon for assignments to transition into permanent positions with our client companies. Systems Administrator, Cloud Services        

Job Responsibilities                                              

Your specific duties as a Systems Administrator, Cloud Services will include:          

  • Compensation (Range): 38-48/ hour
  • The Systems Administrator position is responsible for installing, maintaining and upgrading the telemetry systems infrastructure, hardware and software.
  • Additionally, the Systems Administrator will be responsible for specifying and ordering parts for the company’s Cloud Services platform as well as ISP selection.
  • The administrator will be accountable for ensuring maximum system uptime and detecting and reacting to outages in a speedy manner and will be expected to create and maintain applications and/or scripting to aid in this endeavor.
  • Work Safely
  • Cooperate as a member of a team
  • Respond to general system outages in a timely manner
  • Perform root-cause analysis of issues
  • Head the ISP selection process including contract negotiations
  • Lead systems installations on or off site
  • Develop and maintain a network monitoring system similar to Nagios
  • Configure and set up servers in an HA (High Availability) environment
  • Promotes system improvements by recommending new technologies and strategies to the team
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the basics of computing, services, and networking
  • Create and maintain detailed SOP documentation for server creation and installations

Systems Administrator, Cloud Services

Job Requirements

As a Systems Administrator, Cloud Services you must represent our company well by being responsible, punctual and motivated to go above and beyond the call of duty. You must also be highly detail-oriented and organized with excellent analytic and problem-solving abilities. It is also important that you display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Jira project management
  • Microsoft Office – Intermediate
  • Some Software Engineering to assist system monitoring –Bash, Perl, HTML, CSS etc
  • Technologies – OpenSUSE Linux, Open SSL
  • Familiarity with Linux administration and troubleshooting (system logging, memory, network analysis, etc)
  • Comfortable finding, learning, and evaluating new software technologies as they relate to improving the ACS platform (i.e. distributed databases, new web plugins, etc).
  • Able to assemble and deploy servers from scratch
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years administering an IT infrastructure in a production environment, Linux preferred
  • Comfortable responding to systems issues during off hours if needed.
  • Has lead at least one successful hardware deployment at a remote facility
  • Experience troubleshooting system network issues, memory issues.
  • Understanding of network protocols
  • Understanding of basic network and computer security
  • Occasionally (1-20% of work time);
  • Moderate to Advanced Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Linux, esp OpenSuse Linux preferred
  • Comfortable learning new software as needed.
  • Computer Networking
  • Familiar with network and system monitoring tools
  • Comfortable analyzing system logging to aid troubleshooting
