The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for the Company's full cycle payroll accounting function. This includes processing the Company's multi-state bi-weekly payroll, including compliance filings, processing the funding of the Company's 401(k), H.S.A. and other benefit plans. In addition, the Payroll Specialist will need to journalize payroll-related journal entries and reconcile their corresponding general ledger accounts. The Payroll Specialist is also responsible for processing employee timesheets on a weekly basis. Lastly, the Payroll Specialist is expected to contribute to the Accounting Department's success by driving process improvement and ensuring policies and procedures are documented.
Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly multi-state payroll for approximately 400-500 employees which also includes processing the corresponding funding of the Company's 401(k), H.S.A. and other benefit plans.
- Prepare payroll-related journal entries within established month end close timeline and reconcile corresponding accounts.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws, including any payroll related filings, i.e W-2s, quartely tax, etc.
- Process employee timesheets on a weekly basis.
- Perform research and resolve payroll-related discrepancies.
- Assist with process improvement initiatives, documentation of accounting policies and procedures and other special projects.
Minimum requirements:
Minimum seven years of full-cycle payroll accounting including multi-state payroll
Associates Degree
Familiarity with federal, state and local laws as it relate to payroll and working knowledge of payroll best practices
UltiPro Payroll Software, experience with accounting software or large ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, etc), and a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Desired requirements:
Certified Payroll Professional License (CPP)
ULTIPRO payroll software knowledge required or large ERP (Oracle SAP) and strong Excel
