Position Overview:

The Housekeeper dusts, mops, and cleans items such as medicine cabinets, furniture, metals, mirrors, and equipment. Vacuums blinds, screens, and vents. Performs miscellaneous duties such as replenishing supplies. Sterilizes rooms after isolation.  Integrates the hospital’s mission and “Guiding Principles” into daily practice.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Cleaning all patient rooms and ancillary areas in assigned area following correct procedures.
• Cleaning discharges and check outs as soon as they occur
• Cleaning bathrooms in patient and ancillary areas.
• Vacuuming and spot cleaning upholstered furniture and Vacuuming, spotting, shampooing, and extracting carpeted areas.
• Replacing all soiled window draperies, Moving furniture and other equipment as directed.  Spot cleaning and washing walls.
• Cleaning light fixtures, vents, and other apertures.  Cleaning window frames, door frames, televisions and other high dusting using ladder when necessary.
• Cleaning office furniture.
• Gathering, replacing bag, transporting and distributing soiled linen.
• Completing daily work assignment sheet after each completed task.
• Adheres to Environmental Services Department policies and procedures regarding use of hazardous materials and exposure to body substances and utilizes/wears required protective equipment and/or clothing
• Provides an environment conductive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff.  Assess the risks for safety and implements appropriate precautions.  Complies with appropriate and approved safety standards.

Required Skills:

• Previous Housekeeping / Environmental Services experience, preferred.
• Ability to learn and practice environmental services procedures.
