As a Regional Service Manager, you will support the Energy Industries in the implementation of local business strategies aligned with market needs to drive growth. You’ll work as part of the service team to obtain business intelligence, identify white space opportunities and develop/deploy business plans (supporting ABB Field Service Operations and System/Project teams).
Your responsibilities
- Regional Service Manager Concept: In addition to duties/responsibilities listed below, you will also be responsible to maintain personable billable time to meet or exceed your salary plus benefits. Provide feedback to management regarding this new concept and assist with expansion throughout the US (United States) PAEN (Process Automation Energy Industries) Field Service organization
- Manage customer deliverables: Manage a small group of field service engineers with responsibility for contract execution, contract compliance, small project/upgrade delivery, customer satisfaction and financial return for multiple complex and/or large contracts and small project/upgrades
- Collaboration: Coordinate activities and provide technical advice to contract delivery teams. Ensure compliance with all ABB Safety policies and procedures for ABB personnel involved in execution of service contracts. Develop, recommend and implement initiatives to ensure customer satisfaction and improve performance
- Planning & Development: Plan, develop and manage multiple contracts and small projects. With your understanding of ABB service products and customer needs you will develop and grow contracts for labor, parts and repair including full scope of ABB Ability digital solutions. Work with local sales and project teams to develop service solutions for the installed base in your area
- Service Support: Approve purchase orders for contract materials and services and approve quality assurance and control requirements. Ensure timely delivery of quality information and materials, product quality and field service product performance, responsive to customers. Review status reports and modify plans or schedules, as necessary, to ensure contract parameters are met. Manage project risks to avoid incurring penalties, warranty repairs or other charges
- Customer Knowledge: Maintain close contact with customers and project participants to identify and resolve issues of mutual concern and to seek opportunities for additional business. Ensure timely contract completion, customer satisfaction and desired financial return. In conjunction with related groups, develop business projections and implement strategies to achieve growth/profitability objectives and ensure responsiveness to customers
- Training & Development: Manage and document employee performance and prepare associated recommendations and PDA’s while concurrently ensuring fair and equitable treatment. Promote training of staff to upgrade their skills and increase the group's effectiveness
- Complexity of Tasks: Strong interpersonal skills are required to manage a group, negotiate, achieve cooperation and reach agreement with customers/suppliers
- Requires strong technical and business skills to evaluate and solve complex technical and financial problems, and to cost effectively meet tight schedules involving multiple projects while ensuring customer satisfaction and adherence to Company objectives at met. Errors typically result in scheduling delays, inefficient use of resources and may impact customer relations
Your background
- Bachelors Degree in engineering, business or related field and minimum 8 years of experience in field service, service support or business development related activities OR;
- Associate degree in engineering, business or related field and minimum 10 years of experience in in field service, service support or business development related activities, OR;
- High School diploma and minimum 12 years of experience in in field service, service support or business development
- A Masters degree in required field = Credit given for 2 years of work experience
- A PhD/Doctorate in required field = Credit given for 3 years of work experience
- Intermediate/advanced in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook)
- Strong experience in managing and developing people, a track record of safety and exceeding expectations
- Fluency with ABB tools including SAP, ServicePRO, Orian and MyLearning
- Results oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills and a solid reputation for being a team player
- Must be entrepreneurial and a self starter
- 50% overnight travel
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
