Human Resources Management
a. Follows process that define qualifications, responsibilities, competencies of staff needed to provide care and services that meet the needs of the staff and patients in the unit.

b. Familiar with the staffing plan to meet customer and service needs that effectively addresses staffing guidelines, productivity measures, and the unit plan of care to provide safe and high quality service.

c. Leads on departmental work teams that successfully assess, revise, and improve work outcomes.

d. Provides frequent and clear communication and feedback to staff based on individual needs and job requirements.

e. Administers corrective action as appropriate.

f. Provides or facilitates continuing education/training for team members, with particular focus on quality improvement in teams, use of equipment, interpersonal relationships, customer service, and leadership as assigned or delegated.

g. Holds self accountable for 100% attendance at mandatory education.

h. Assures all new team members successfully complete general and department orientation within designated time frames. Communicate knowledge on all current hospital and department policies and procedures to patient care employees.

i. Promotes confidence in team members through peer recognition and reinforcement of successes by team and its members.

j. Facilitates and fosters ongoing problem solving that utilizes teams and collaboration.

k. Leads teams that can focus on immediate issues, move quickly, and achieve specific results as planned.

l. Supports others to do their best, creating an atmosphere focused on results, achievement and recognition.

M Collaborates on hiring decisions with the nurse manager.

Fiscal Management
a. Acts as financial steward for the unit and the staffing resource utilization based on care and services provided that is in alignment with mission, vision, and values of CHI St. Vincent

b. Monitors and modifies staffing skill mix according to shifts in demand for services and resource availability.

c. Communicates information and costs to team and all others involved in supporting the provision of care and services.

d. Continually defines, analyzes, and implements efficient workflow utilizing process improvement principles.

Materials Management
a. Follows departmental plan for meeting material and capital needs that is based on available resources and consistent with the mission, vision, and values of CHI St. Vincent

b. Follows the systems processes for determining for and projecting material and capital needs on a yearly and provide input to manager/director.

c. Utilizes ongoing system that effectively manages material and supply usage.

Management of Information and Support
a. Maintains a work environment that develops leadership and accountability skills in all staff.

b. Systematically empowers employees by relocating decision making for customer satisfaction to those serving the customer.

c. Participates in the Quality Improvement of the department by serving on teams that include ongoing mechanisms for measuring and improving quality of service and outcomes.

d. Assesses and implements plan for continuously improving own leadership skills.

e. Develops own and staff skills in seeing organizational issues from the broad view, anticipating challenges and opportunities, thinking ahead, and the ability to react quickly with tactical responses to changes in work demands.

f. Maintains a precise and constant flow of information to staff through numerous channels and opportunities.

g. Unit Supervisor will assist with development of department schedule.

h. Input of Payroll information into timekeeping system.

a. Challenges the status quo to improve efficiency of unit operations.

b. Facilitate optimal patient throughput to decrease LOS and LWBS.

c. Ensures that the competence of staff is assessed, maintained, demonstrated, and improved on an ongoing basis.

d. Creates and supports an environment in department that encourages problem solving, experimentation, creativity, calculated risk taking, desire to excel and pride in success.

e. Is adaptable, appreciates others viewpoints and open to new assignments.

f. Continually focuses staff attention and planning on future opportunities for improvements in services provided.

g. Is an effective advocate, gets ideas adopted, moves people to action, ask hard questions, and helps staff feel they are part of something bigger than themselves.

h. Role models effective team leader skills in department committees, problem analysis and feedback sessions, and participation on cross functional teams.

i. Demonstrates a positive attitude resulting in a high level of individual and group morale

j. Sets dramatic and inspiring goals that result in high expectations and successful outcomes.

k. Deals with issues in an unemotional and objective manner, while striving to enhance self esteem of others and listen with empathy. Performs investisctory meetings with discipline with warranted.

l. Gets things done by setting deadlines for certain actions, closely monitoring the progress of activities, and intervening quickly when these are not proceeding according to schedule.

Education: Current licensure as Registered Nurse in the state of Arkansas. BSN, or pursuit of BSN or higher degree required. Current employees in this role may be grandfathered in per approval of VP, PCS for the facility.

Experience: A minimum of four years clinical nursing experience in a hospital setting or three years demonstrated leadership as a charge RN or PCC. Familiar with scheduling process, staffing assignments, acuity systems, and quality of care. Has developed and presented education sessions. Has contributed to employee evaluations and assisted with orientation of staff. Has experience investigating problems and provides solutions with- in the framework of best practice and nursing process.
