Senior Accountant - Highly Visible, Chance to Make an Impact
About the Company and Opportunity:
• Our client is a nonprofit organization in the Chicagoland area is looking for a Senior Accountant to join their team.
• The Senior Accountant should have a working knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit fund accounting and experience in meeting the Head Start fiscal requirements and familiarity with the fiscal requirements of State of Illinois early childhood funded programs.

Overview of the Senior Accountant role:
• Allocate bi-weekly payroll.
• Execute fiscal monitoring for assigned Community Partners retrieving necessary documentation.
• Aid Purchasing & Facilities Dept. in physical inventory count.
• Prepares journal entries, monitors, and reconciles general ledger activity.
• Prepares vouchers for federal, city and state reimbursement.
• Tracks, monitors, and updates payment of incoming cash receipts.
• Annual budget preparation, budget revisions, and monthly budget to actual reporting for WIC, HFI, and MIECHV.
• Tracks, monitors, and reports of In-Kind/Non-Federal Share.
• Assists in the preparation of the month end closing.
• Assists in year-end audit preparation and other Fiscal Funder reviews.
• Assists with cost allocation assignments/calculations.
• Prepares and submits Periodic Financial Reports (PFR) required by state agencies.
• Reconciles monthly bank statements, processes Accounts Payable, Processes Accounts Receivable.
• Assists with resolving uncollected amounts or aging payables.
Preferred Qualifications for the Senior Accountant:
• Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA or advanced degree a plus
• Minimum 5 years accounting experience
• Nonprofit fund accounting experience a plus
• Experience with ERP systems, prefer Fund EZ software
• Intermediate with Excel
