Job Description

Schaeffler, a global automotive and industrial supplier, is seeking a Group Engineer - Central Mechatronics Software to support our team in our Wooster, OH location. Our Group Engineer Program is one that develops top engineers into future leaders of our growing organization. This is a 2 year program comprised of 4 R&D based rotations (6 months in duration) that can be located at any of our facilities throughout the North American Region (USA, Mexico, Canada) as well as a potential rotation training in our home office in Germany. The scope of this role after final placement includes designing, implementing and testing embedded software for mechatronic devices in the Central Mechatronics Group for the Americas Region. In addition to creating and testing, the chosen candidate will be responsible for developing standards and procedures for software.  All development will be based on ISO 26262 Standard. This role will be responsible for interfacing with colleagues at the Global Headquarters to apply global standards for software development.


Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Design and develop embedded software and firmware for mechatronic devices.
  • Testing and troubleshooting software and interfacing with team members on design and function of devices. 
  • Responsible for taking development code and optimizing it to a production-ready code for mass-produced vehicles, taking into account functional safety requirements and limitations in available computational hardware.
  • Lead software architecture development from concept through implementation.

  • Job Requirements

    Qualified candidates will have:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical engineering 
  • Basic understanding of physics
  • Experience in embedded software development
  • SAP & Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Software Optimization and C language for controllers 
  • Exposure to software architectural design
  • Software Validation Experience (SiL, PiL, HiL) is a plus
  • Knowledge of CAN / Flexray, ASIL and SPICE is a plus 
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent communication (written & verbal) to transfer knowledge to team members
  • Advanced presentation skills
