Job Title: Master Scheduler

The Material Planner is responsible for developing the master production plan to satisfy customer demand while carrying minimum effective inventory. The qualified individual will be responsible for providing the plant with a monthly production plan consistent with the plant capacity and sales forecast. The planner is responsible for determining the desired inventory levels for finished goods down to the pack size including safety stock levels. The sales forecasts, new business opportunities, customer expectations, and internal supply constraints will be used to develop production plans, by month, for a rolling three month period. Strong collaboration with the Operation Manager, Customer Service and Management will be critical to meeting business goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create a rolling 3-month Master Production Plan for designated products. Utilize the production capacity, taking into consideration the sales forecast, historical sales, and new business opportunities.

  • Analyze and identify risks associated with the options built into the Master Production Plan, including manufacturing lead times.

  • Schedules emailed to the plants monthly.

  • Perform supply demand analysis each quarter, highlighting areas of concern for the next 12 months.

  • Make delivery commitments, which involve checking uncommitted material and availability of capacity.

  • Develop inventory targets and manage production to achieve targeted inventory levels on both a cost and unit basis.

  • Maintain finished goods inventory at target levels in ensure high service levels, i.e. product availability.

  • Project finished goods inventory levels on a quarterly basis. Achieve desired corporate inventory turn targets.

  • Insure coordination with plant schedulers to execute Production Plan on a weekly and monthly basis.

  • Monitor actual output versus the Master Production Plan. Identify gaps and drive solutions, including a metric on production performance to the requested production schedule.

  • Timely reporting of key metrics.

  • Create/revise daily production and shipping schedules according to customer demand and availability of labor, materials, and equipment.

  • Review/respond to Ford's DDL system and Chrysler's SMART system as necessary to identify critical shortages, receiving discrepancies, and/or on hand status.

  • Ensure that new parts are properly entered in SAP, Future 3, DDL, and Chrysler

  • Monitor OEM delivery rating scores and disputes when necessary.

  • Acts as liaison with customers in regards to, but not limited to, order clarification, ship windows, and expedited freight. Files/responds to disputes as needed.

  • Reviews OEMs forecasts and identifies new parts or quantity changes. Prepares matrix that projects material needs for next several weeks.

  • Monitor shipping activities to ensure compliance to shipping requirements. Resolve discrepancies as required.

  • Perform cycle counts on raw, WIP, and finished goods inventory and packaging.

  • Order raw material, supplies, components, finished goods, or equipment and regulate inventory levels consistent with just in time and continuous improvement principles.

  • Fill in for Materials Manager when needed.

  • Be available 24 hours to resolve internal plant questions or customer needs/problems.

  • Ensures compliance with all related TS 16949 and ISO 14001 procedures and requirements.

  • Assists in maintaining a safe workplace.

  • Manages a minimum of (1) Continuous Improvement project throughout the year. (Reporting out as required).

  • Involved in July/December shutdown planning.

  • Attend Daily Production meeting, and weekly Crewing meeting.

  • Ensure compliance with all TS-16949 and ISO-14001 policies and procedures.

  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization to ensure issues addressed and resolved in a timely manner.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in materials, logistics, or manufacturing preferred.

  • Minimum of five years of experience in a materials function in a manufacturing environment

  • APICS certificate desirable.

  • SAP preferred.

Language Ability

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, employees and customers

Math Ability

  • Basic math skills required.

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to identify problems, collect data and make recommendations

  • Ability to interpret instructions and deal with multiple variables

Computer Skills:

  • Proficient in MS Office software (inc. Powerpoint, Word, and Excel) and Lotus notes.

  • ERP/Shipping systems.
