Academic Programs & Accreditation Officer

The UC Irvine School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences is the first public pharmacy school in the Los Angeles-Orange County region. Its faculty and programs span a continuum from discovery, development, and delivery of new drugs, devices, and diagnostics all the way to optimizing medication therapy in patients and patient populations. The school offers a BS in Pharmaceutical Sciences, MS in Pharmacology, PhD in Pharmacological Sciences, and Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD.)
As part of the Susan & Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences, we actively collaborate with schools and programs in medicine, nursing, and population, public health, and the Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute to educate, train, and mentor the next generation of pharmaceutical scientists and clinical pharmacists. The school's mission is to be a driving force for advancing health and wellness of individuals and society.
Responsibilities:
The Academic Programs and Accreditation Officer plays a crucial role in supporting the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences academic degree programs, including BS, MS, PhD, and PharmD, by addressing a wide range of educational issues and implementing project management principles to achieve academic excellence. This role involves:
Stakeholder Collaboration: Working closely with faculty, staff, and leadership within the school's departments and academic programs, and serving as the primary liaison between these programs and university stakeholders.
Program Development: Drafting and managing proposals for new degree programs or modifications to existing ones. This includes ensuring timely progress through various stages of review within the school, UCI, UC, UC Regents, and multiple accreditation bodies.
Data Management: Maintaining accurate program data and documentation for the preparation of reports required by UCI, the UC Board of Regents, and accreditation bodies.
Accreditation Compliance: Monitoring academic program documentation and policies to ensure they meet established and evolving standards of accreditation bodies and university regulations. This involves developing and maintaining documentation processes to meet regulatory requirements.
Assessment and Evaluation: Collaborating with program faculty and leadership to develop and maintain program documentation, including assessment and evaluation tools, strategies, and timelines. Providing summary reports of evaluations to program leadership and submitting various data reports (e.g., American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy annual surveys).
Strategic Planning: Assisting with the design, implementation, and assessment of strategic initiatives. This includes corresponding with internal and external stakeholders to gather data, addressing barriers to achieving optimal outcomes, and supporting administrative functions and long-range strategic planning.
Special Projects: Supporting various special projects such as submitting annual catalog updates for academic programs, analyzing educational technologies, and optimizing the teaching and learning environment. Liaising between program or departmental administration and university stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
This role demands excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for effective collaboration with a broad range of constituents.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and professionally with a broad range of constituents.
- Experience in project management. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement processes and systems. Thorough knowledge of the administrative and operational implications in a program.
- Excellent organizational skills, analytical, and demonstrated attention to detail. Ability to complete work and meet established deadlines in an accurate and timely manner, and to manage short and competing deadlines. Ability to work independently, using judgment, and taking action to conduct short and long range planning.
- Strong writing skills in a variety of styles to draft text for a variety of audiences while ensuring adherence to policies, guidelines, and requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- At least 5-7 years of experience in related field
Preferred:
- Thorough knowledge of relevant policies and regulatory requirements. Knowledge of common organization- or research-specific and other computer application programs.
- Demonstrated experience conducting administrative, research and organizational analysis, including data-gathering, creating databases and reports, and formulating solutions.
