Position Summary:
This position is responsible for overseeing and executing all aspects of media relations, public relations, social media and content marketing for NAB Show, NAB Show New York, NAB Amplify and any other GCE initiatives. The position supports GCE’s marketing, sales and content teams in developing integrated, cohesive messaging and assets that strengthen NAB’s position and reach in the global media and entertainment industry. The position executes effective communications strategies to elevate GCE’s brands to drive revenue, increase attendance, facilitate engagement and generate positive earned media.
Essential Functions:
Lead media outreach to industry trade publications and mainstream media outlets. Establish and maintain productive relationships with reporters and official media partners to support audience and revenue growth strategies. Serve as media point of contact and spokesperson for GCE events and initiatives.
Develop and implement content marketing strategies leveraging editorial, audio and video formats to promote show and NAB Amplify offerings.
Direct the social media strategy across the GCE portfolio to facilitate community engagement and support marketing programs. Oversee channel management. Leverage best practices. Work closely with paid digital team to optimize performance. Identify and develop partnerships with social influencers. Manage social media contractors.
Execute creative and marketing strategies for NAB Amplify to achieve subscription, engagement and revenue goals. Direct the creative agency and digital advertising program. Effective campaigns will include use of content marketing, video, social media and digital advertising.
Lead messaging and production of news releases, executive Q&A’s, press section of show websites, promotional materials for publication and dissemination to news media. Collaborate with Public Affairs as needed on initiatives that involve advocacy and member programs. Manage media relations contractor.
Develop, manage and grow targeted press distribution lists to reflect audiences and technologies represented at events. Maximize effectiveness of media partner program. Manage media partner program contractor.
Facilitate pre-show and onsite live coverage requests to include interviews between key reporters, VIP speakers and NAB leadership. Advise senior staff on press strategies and conduct briefings in preparation for interviews. Work with GCE and Industry Affairs staff to secure top tier journalists as session moderators.
Direct contracted publishers, guide editorial content and ensure accuracy of copy for NAB Show Daily News and associated products. Create resources to support media partners with event-specific publications, features and articles. Support efforts to evolve products to generate new revenue and/or support new growth markets and target audiences.
Oversee exhibitor PR resources and services designed to garner media coverage. Manage press conference scheduling process. Build relationships with exhibitor publicists and secure information regarding product launches, in-booth activities, etc. for use in event promotions.
Manage the onsite Show newsroom. Lead planning and staffing activities including press briefing room and special events for VIP press.
Oversee production of NAB Show LIVE from programming priorities to live stream website delivery. Secure and manage related resources to include executive producer, camera crews, hosts, technical and web teams.
Negotiate contracts, manage relationships and budgets with related vendors.
Support video production needs.
Work closely with Marketing and Insight team members to ensure all marketing and communications activities support the strategic objectives across the GCE business portfolio.
Leverage data and insight to support decision-making. Contribute efforts that drive ongoing insight to refine persona marketing and journey mapping. Support research activities to include post-show surveys, focus groups, industry/market research, etc.
Develop a complete understanding of GCE’s business portfolio and the industries it serves, to include appropriate product categories, technology trends, audience make-up, community needs, conference topics, other major associations and competitors, etc.
Other duties as assigned.
Internal and External Relations:
Internal: Effectively communicates and works with others in the Global Connections & Events department and various other departments throughout the organization
External: Effectively communicates with members of the press and media, exhibitors, and NAB Show media partners
Requirements and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree required
8-10 years of related professional experience in Communications
Demonstrated knowledge of best practices and latest tools and tactics for targeting media, conducting outreach and disseminating news
Experience in strategic pitching and planning
Advanced interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Ability to effectively and strategically build relationships throughout the industry, press, and media
Ability to travel domestically up to 10% throughout the year
Strong administrative, organizational, and time management skills
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
An independent thinker that can also thrive in a team environment
Tradeshow experience preferred but not required
