Mechanical Design Engineer Cleveland, OH Every day, Kelly Services connects professionals with opportunities to advance their careers. We currently have a rewarding opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer position with one of our growing manufacturing clients in Cleveland, OH. The major responsibilities will include: Major Responsibilities:

  • Creates 3D concepts for components and welded steel assemblies using PTC Creo/AutoCad software for manufacturing processes including laser cutting, forming, welding and assembly.
  • Creates component and assembly prints, bills of material (BOMs), Engineering Change Notices, Engineering Release Notices, assembly instruction, and technical documentation. Experience working with an ERP system (MAPICS) required.
  • Project management experience managing multiple new and sustaining engineering projects. Cross function communication skills and excellent documentation and presentation skills are essential.
  • Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) as required to develop new designs and verify design changes.
  • Work with manufacturing/quality to create fixtures, prototypes, production and test equipment and support new product introductions and maintain existing production.
  • Work with existing vendors and purchasing and identify new vendors on new components and revisions.
  • Provide technical information on top level assemblies and components to all departments (Sales, Marketing, After Sales Support).
  • Attend meetings and measuring sessions with truck manufacturers and the National Truck Equipment Association (NTEA) to improve vehicle design and fitment for Meyer Products equipment. Work with local truck dealers to provide vehicles to check fit of new mount designs.
  • Visit customers/dealers/field test sites to support sales and assess any quality issues to provide appropriate engineering redesign, as necessary.
  • Update/maintain Engineering software/licensing files.

  Education & Required Skills:    

  • 5 - 10 yrs experience in similar industry in Product Design
  • Automotive Industry experience would be considered
  • Experience with electrical/hydraulics systems is a plus.
  • PTC Creo/AutoCad/Pro-E
  • Experience with electrical/hydraulics systems is a plus.
