Project Engineer/ manager design and coordinate the details of the product with the building support structure, often taking the role of confirming the design of the surrounding building itself with the project design team. The project manager controls each project job and ensures profitability; starting in the design phase, certifying compliance, obtaining approvals, release for production, to the completion of installation and close out. Along with a strong understanding of building construction, a strong knowledge of fabrication standards and installation is required. Project managers direct the project design to meet project requirements, and oversee the preparation of product shop drawings. In addition, project managers issue material purchase requests; address contractor /architect / engineer / consultant questions and concerns, resolve contractual scope issues, hold responsibility for maintaining critical schedules, collaborate in the resolution of fabrication issues, plan and trouble shoot the installation process, and prepare and manage change orders.
Oversee the project from start to finish.
Perform a key role in project planning, budgeting, and identification of resources needed.
Project accounting functions including managing the budget, tracking of expenses and minimizing exposure and risk in the project.
Ensure that construction activities move according to predetermined schedule.
Devise the product shop drawings and make revisions as and when need arises.
Quote, negotiate and implement change orders.
Co-ordinate the efforts of all parties involved in the project, which include the architects, consultants, contractors, engineers and sub-contractors and laborers.
Monitor the progress of the construction activities on a regular basis.
Maintain strict adherence to the budgetary guidelines, and quality standards.
Identify the elements of project design and construction likely to give rise to disputes and claims.
Serve as a key link with the clients.
Development of effective communications and mechanisms for resolving conflicts among the various project participants.
