Principal Engineer - Power Electronics with Security Clearance
* Conduct power electronics research through modeling simulation, and design of power electronic circuits and controls
* Develop and test power converters devices, working knowledge with SiC and GaN devices
* Develop and test control solutions for power converters devices * Design and develop naval shipboard power conversion modules
* Participate with multi-disciplinary teams and lead GE Vernova Advanced Research teams in the development of new power technologies and capabilities for GE Vernova's next generation product platforms * Innovate in the power electronics space and lead Intellectual Property development/reviews
* Effectively communicate results by preparing written reports and making presentations that describe analyses and solutions * Connect the organization to the latest technology developments and trends in industry * Contribute to proposals for GE businesses as well as government agencies, especially with Department of Defense (Navy) Required Qualifications: * PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 12 years of experience developing power electronics and controls OR a Masters degree with a minimum of 15 years of experience developing power electronics and controls
* U.S. citizenship is required due to Federal Contract Provisions. * Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY. * Must be 18 years or older. Desired Characteristics: * Familiarity with DC grid concepts, including medium and high voltage DC
* Familiarity with energy storage * Familiarity with microgrids and grid integration of renewables
* Department of Defense (DoD) Top Secret security clearance The base pay range for this position is $127,900 - $213,100. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a performance bonus. This position will be posted until at least 11/13/2024.
