Lead Yard Driver

McLane Company Forest Park Full-Time

This position is responsible for the daily administrative functions in the Yard Transportation department, and ensures that Yard drivers are aware of any changes that may occur or will occur. This position must also provide training on essential functions of the Yard position. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Manage, oversee, facilitate and track safety, regulatory and compliance
  • Oversee/planning the activities of the Yard department to ensure the daily duties and priorities are accomplished in a timely manner.
  • Other routine department administrative tasks as needed
  • Maintain and promote department productivity and efficiency
  • Assist Supervisors with routine responsibilities and projects when needed
  • Provide Equipment training as needed
  • Maintain Preventive Maintenance Plan in coordination with Penske


  • High School diploma or GED required
  • At least one year of experience with leading a team.
  • No preventable accidents or injuries over the last 12 months
  • Flexibility with scheduling is a MUST (must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays as well as change work schedule on short notice, if needed)
  • Oral and written communication skills are a must
  • Have strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with
  • Be able to meet tight deadlines with little margin for error
  • Ability to work in Office, Warehouse (freezer/cooler/dry) and outdoor environments (seasonal weather conditions)
