Our Client: a $30M, fully-integrated manufacturer, operating from a 100,000 square foot facility in Southern California.
The Manufacturing CAD/CAM Technician is responsible for creating/editing 3D models using SolidWorks and for creating/editing/setting up single Numerical Control (NC) programs for turret punch presses and nested files for laser cutting using SigmaNest Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software.
- Must be able to work in an expansive, highly active manufacturing environment and learn production processes and resolve issues directly in the production area.
- Embrace the cross-training culture by a willingness to learn other jobs or tasks within the facility.
- Know and abide by company rules and policies with regards to safety and conduct, including the use and maintenance of company provided PPE.
- Flexible schedule is required in regards to overtime and start time according to work volumes.
- Design, model, and test prototypes assemblies of products in SolidWorks.
- Generate all NC programs for steel metal laser and CNC turret punch presses utilizing SigmaNest CAM programming software.
- Read and interpret work orders/drawings/blueprints/sketches, along with written and verbal instructions to produce and edit part drawings/layouts in SolidWorks and print part layouts for manufacturing.
- Capable of troubleshooting and resolving issues with programs or missing NCs.
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections of parts as requested by operators or supervisors.
- Collaborate with office personnel, leads, and shop floor personnel to answer customer or sales questions about orders and manufacturing issues related to drawings or assemblies.
Looking for:
- Two or more years of sheet metal design using SolidWorks 2014 or above for modeling and design.
- Two or more years of turret/laser programming using a CAM software for programming sheet metal parts.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
- Communicate and work well in routine/unplanned circumstances with sales, Team Leads, and shop personnel.
- Experience using SigmaNest a plus.
- Experience operating a Laser or CNC Turret Punch a plus.
- Understanding of 5S and lean manufacturing a plus.
- 2+ years’ experience in a custom manufacturing environment.
- SolidWorks: 2 years (Required)
- NC programming of turrets/Laser using a CAM software: 2 years (Preferred)
