JOB SUMMARY

This role partners closely with various business groups to provide insight and identify business opportunities based on the understanding and interpretation of financial and non-financial information. 

Role Title:  Senior Director of Commercial FP&A
Organization:  Finance, FP&A , Commercial FP&A
Direct reports:  5-7, Full organization 20+
Reports to:  Chief Financial Officer
Supports:  Medline’s Sales / Marketing / Distribution organizations
Primary Business Partners:  CCO / CMO / President Distribution / CFO





CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to the Commercial FP&A organization in how we interact with our business partners and what value we aspire to drive by combining Medline’s ‘success factors’ with the ‘finance operating principles’
  • Challenge business partners and functional stakeholders to ensure rigor in their decision making, particularly when related to customer profitability or expense growth/leverage
  • Support and enable our business partners in ad hoc projects, i.e. strategic business initiatives, M&A due diligence and post deal integration, growth modeling and customer base expansion, territory modeling, sales compensation structure, etc.
  • Support the broader FP&A organization with major change management initiatives, i.e. m/e close timeline reduction, systems integration/implementation, data governance, control reviews, process design, organization structure design, etc.
  • Provide monthly business insights and financial KPI’s to the executive office and Medline leadership team as it relates to revenue performance and Medline’s distribution business
  • Act as a member of the finance leadership team (FLT) shaping the overall finance organizations goals and objectives
  • Develop and mentor staff through recruitment, on-boarding, open communication, training and development opportunities and performance management processes; build and maintain employee morale and motivation; ensure the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies while fostering a positive/fun work environment
  • This role provides leadership of both the identification, prioritization and execution of FP&A activities

Education



  • B.A. or B.S. in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics or related fields / commensurate experience
Relevant Work Experience
  • At least 10 years of progressive financial planning, reporting and/or analysis experience
  • At least 7 years of progressive experience providing financial advice and counsel to P&L/business owners
  • Experience in leading strategic decision making and goal setting initiatives
  • Experience in leading profit improvement initiatives
  • Healthcare industry experience a plus but not required
Additional
  • Comfortable leveraging data resources, ERP systems, BI tools and building financial models 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills coupled with presentation capabilities 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain working relationships across the spectrum of business partners and intra-finance colleagues
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills which enable quick decision support and structured action plans
  • Interest in utilizing new technologies including advanced analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning to assist with developing solid business insight
  • Some intermittent travel required
