Reporting to the Group President of the Industrial Platform, the Engineering Director is responsible for providing engineering leadership and collaboration across the Industrial divisions. This position serves as a catalyst to help divisions with separate but related initiatives drive creation, development, qualification, and release of new technologies and products into the market segments that the platform serves. This position will support divisions located in Appleton, WI, Troy, OH, Beecher, IL, Carol Stream, IL, and Windsor, ON.

•As a key member of the platform management team, serve as a catalyst to drive the development and implementation of the platform’s strategic plan. This includes effective positioning of the Industrial Platform initiatives with the Central Engineering strategy and resources.
•Partner with divisional stakeholders to create a product strategy which integrates the Customer-Back Innovation (CBI) process to generate a competitive pipeline of product introductions. This includes working with divisional and platform leadership to develop a comprehensive business case rationale for product development projects.
•Foster an environment of creativity, teamwork and innovation by facilitating technical exploration and providing proactive support for the intellectual property management process.
•Work with divisional leaders to align resources to ensure appropriate focus and support is given to 80/20 opportunities of existing products; including product enhancement, certification and value engineering.
•Instill a sense of urgency to ensure that all sustaining and NPD activities are completed on schedule and budget.
•Closely work with the divisions in establishing and driving relevant R&D metrics and milestones for development performance, effectiveness, efficiency, and new product quality.
•Provide governance for 80/20 new products where large revenue currently exists in our core and NPD execution is critical.
•Evaluate and assess the effectiveness of established engineering systems, policies, procedures, and drive continuous improvement initiatives as appropriate.
•Research adjacent technologies and platforms that can add significant value to our targeted end markets. In doing so, help set the agenda for R&D efforts that the central engineering teams will work on and align different needs of the divisions to feed R&D pipeline.
•Establish & implement a framework to connect different divisional technologies to drive enhanced solutions for the end user. This could include cross-divisional technical & application solutions targeting end customer needs. This role will provide governance for these consolidated projects. Assist in assessing acquisitions and/or new business platforms
•A bachelor's degree in engineering and/or engineering management required; master's degree or MBA preferred.
•Minimum of 10 years of business experience of which 5 years have been in progressively responsible engineering leadership roles.
•Proven leader of innovation with experience working in industrial market segments.
•Demonstrated ability to lead a customer-oriented focus innovation.
•Track record of delivering differentiated product development and strategy creation and execution (reliability, quality, and responsiveness), synthesizing internal and customer data through voice of customer and organizational capability to build a product roadmap.
•Travel up to 30%.
•Technical Proficiency - Must have proven success in conceptual design through product development with demonstrated ability to manage and mentor a team of highly skilled internal and external engineers to create innovative and high-performance products.
