Staff Accountant
Classification: Staff Accountant
Compensation: $24.00 to $28.60 hourly
Robert Half has a contract / temporary to hire opportunity available for an experienced, organized Staff Accountant at a reputable company. As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for the preparation of journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. You will have responsibility for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. In addition, you will support the development and implementation of accounting policies. In addition, you will play an active role in compliance, collaborate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This very involved position works to produce Cash Flow projections, Financial Statements, and Budgets. This company offers a challenging and multi-faceted opportunity where effort is rewarded and the role is based in the Mogadore, Ohio region.
How you will make an impact
- Oversee the creation of monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for reporting to management
- Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested
- Offer succinct analysis on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a clear and concise manner
- Ready complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
- Play a role in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
- Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules
- Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
- Keep up fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
- Participate in various department-wide initiatives
- Carry out month end close, journal entries, without supervision
- Foundational knowledge in Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Journal entries experience highly desired
- Command of Microsoft Excel
- Deep understanding of Accounts Payable (AP)
- Financial reporting experience
- Self-starter and strong ethical standards
- Competent with spreadsheets and databases
- Remarkable analytical, quantitative and social skills
- 3+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent
- Experience with ERP systems
- Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
- Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills
- BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
- Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines
