DESCRIPTION 

The Senior Electrical Engineer II is responsible for creating, developing, and reviewing power distribution systems and equipment layouts for some of the most exciting highway, airport, tunnel, bridge, and building infrastructure projects in New York and New Jersey. As a senior engineer, you will be the key point of contact and decision-maker for planning and design activities related to your client deliverables. You will prepare design markups; work with younger engineers to prepare plan sets and other client deliverables; and perform electrical engineering quality control reviews for your main projects in addition to projects that you may not be involved with on a day to day basis. You will leverage your people skills by working with other design disciplines within Michael Baker; subconsultants; and clients on a daily basis. You will leverage your engineering knowledge and skills to assist with the preparation of engineering plans, power distribution calculations, lighting design (illuminance) calculations, technical specifications, and construction estimates and schedules. You will be supported by a successful management team and team of designers to advance your technical and management skills. 

Technical experience required: 

  • National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Indoor and outdoor power distribution design
  • Medium Voltage Substations, Utility Service and Metering
  • Electrical Calculations
  • Protective Relaying, Key Interlocking, and Grounding
  • Building Automation Management and Control systems (BAMCS) and SCADA
  • Lighting Control and Monitoring
  • Fire Alarm Systems Design
  • Design Reviews
  • Project Scoping
  • Conceptual Design Development
  • Field Inspections
  • Utility Coordination
  • Contract Drawings, Technical Specifications, and Cost Estimates

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • 10 -20 years of related experience with P.E. License required (NJ and NY preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Project experience with the following clientele NYCDOT, NYSDOT, and Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Software Experience with SKM, EasyPower, AutoCAD, MicroStation
