OVERVIEW 

This position will be responsible for answering telephone inquiries regarding consumer, home equity and mortgage loan applications, aiding in rendering credit decisions on consumer loans in accordance with Credit Union policy, and providing quality internal and external member service. 

Additional duties include inputting consumer, home equity and mortgage applications in accordance with Credit Union lending policy.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Take consumer, home equity and mortgage applications via phone and render a credit decision on consumer applications in accordance with Credit Union policy when applicable 
  • Discuss appropriate loan programs with members, and arrange and tailor loans to meet member needs 
  • Refer loan applications that fall outside of the Lending Call Group Representative’s approval level to an underwriter or loan office for further review 
  • Discuss adverse action reasons with members as appropriate 
  • Determine member eligibility for membership to the credit union 
  • Cross sell other Credit Union products and services when possible 
  • Provide member assistance for loan applications already in process 
  • Respond to member email inquiries 
  • Work in collaboration and partnership with other team members 
  • Additional job related projects as assigned by management  

 QUALIFICATIONS 

  •  Associate’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience in a Call Center Lending environment 
  • Knowledge and experience in handling consumer, mortgage and home equity loan products 
  • Outstanding customer service skills 
  • Customer focused, solutions oriented problem solver 
  • Sales experience strongly preferred 
  • Ability to think creatively and offer input for improving the member experience 
  • NMLS license preferred. If not licensed then ability to complete the requirements to obtain license, including credit and background check 
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) 
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary 
  • Excellent customer service skills with a high attention to detail 
  • Prioritize workload based on department requirements and customer needs 
  • Strong analytical skills required with a high degree of accuracy 
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed 
  • Ability to multi-task in other areas of the unit 
  • Aptitude to work independently as well as part of a team 
  • Positive attitude and team-oriented 
  • Ability to function in changing environment
