Job Description

Job Summary & Essential Functions:

The Mold A Operator will apply basic potting / cold mold applications and will utilize molding processes to mold specific compound / materials into mold fixtures which provides an environmental seal to strengthen and bond components together.

Essential Functions

¨ Read and follow production documentation pertaining to specific assemblies

¨ Clean up and patch molded parts

¨ Prep and prime cable jackets and connectors

¨ Mix and apply various prepot/molding compounds for basic molding assemblies

¨ Set-up and tear down various fixtures/molds including clean up

¨ Install hardware

¨ Data collection and record keeping as necessary

¨ Various other tasks (may include the following): Miscellaneous assembly operations

¨ Train other coworkers as needed.

¨ Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.

Skills & Qualifications

Required Skills & Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Ability to perform basic math functions including the use of decimals and fractions.
  • Ability to use simple charts, tables, specifications and adjustable measuring instruments;
  • Checking or preparation of forms and records.
  • Ability to regularly work from detailed instructions and to make minor decisions requiring some judgement on the part of the employee.
  • Requires frequent concentration and alertness.
  • Occasionally requires the ability to understand and plan sequences of operations where standard methods of procedure are available.
  • Occasionally requires the ability to make general decisions by the employee within the limitations of standard method. The use of judgement by the employee is required.
  • Ability to work with large cables and large gauge wire.
  • Light to moderate physical exertion involved in continuously working with lightweight (up to 5 pounds) materials or frequently (at least 4 hours/day) working with average weight (5-35 pounds) materials. May require the use of lift assists for bulk or heavier material.
  • High attention to detail to ensure safety when using presses and tools.
  • Vision Requirements - corrected vision acceptable (20/40). Must be able to distinguish colors.
  • Required to use materials as listed (may vary by department): primers, alcohol, MEK, rubber/latex/cloth gloves, guaze pads, fiberglass, various wire, tapes (Teflon, fiberglass, ceramic, etc.), paper, solder, flux, potting or molding compounds (epoxy, MOCA - based material, plastic material, Stycast and silicones), toluene, machine oil, sealant, primers, various electrical components, braids (copper, PTFE, stainless, etc.), fiberglass, various metals (copper, stainless, etc.), protective packaging material, epoxies, spiral wrap, ceramic, mold releases (like Flooroglide).
  • Required to use hand tools as listed (may vary by department): acid brushes, syringes, primer brushes, screw drivers, allen wrenches, scissors, exacto knives, molds/fixtures, c-clamp, vise, buffers, hammers, tape measure, files
  • Required to use equipment as listed (may vary by department): Refrigerator/cooler, freezer, oven, mold presses, pneumatic application tools, dremel tool, exhaust hood, portable racks, weight scales, paint shaker, bench grinder, milling machine
Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the outlined experience level, education, training, minimum years of experience, product or industry knowledge plus any certifications in order to be considered.   • Machine and/or press operator experience preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Ability to pass background and drug screen.
